  1. This is known in the political world as unintended consequences. DeSantis is trying to keep the individuals privacy as he sees them slipping away little by little. The president also is not in favor of these passports either, all be it for different reasons.
  2. I assume what you say is true as it pertains to international law but this would also include the CDC and their rules for the high seas.
  3. Yes there has been a thread but unfortunately some discussions went over the line. So lets keep this one civil. The CDC at one time floated the idea (if this is a good way of saying this) of everyone must have a negative test the day of embarkation, midway through the cruise and on the last day unless you are vaccinated. Then you do not have to have the test. Testing has been going here in Florida since this began so no problems. Having someone tested is not refusing service and by showing a vaccine card voluntarily we are in compliance with the statute. Another thing to keep in mind that this statute was an addition to current Emergency Management law already on the books. Some other additions and subtractions were included also. Once the federal emergency goes away this does also.
  4. Thanks everyone for the info, I will check it out. Mardi Gras is suppose to be arriving in Canaveral on the 3rd. Rocket launch that day also, could be a double header.
  5. Anyone know where Odyssey currently is located? Any word on when it is to arrive in Port Canaveral?
  6. So Jeff you believe that the CDC will prevail in creating a law from a bureaucratic system and not from a congressional perspective. This seems unconstitutional to me. This "law" can be extended indefinitely I am assuming so this could become the "law of the land" so to speak. "
  7. Then don't. Stay home, save your money for when the coast is clear. We all have options. Not trying to be snarky or anything but this argument has a simple answer.
  8. Depends on which court. State it probably would be upheld as this "law" as some have stated is actually and amendment to the emergency act of the state of Florida. If it goes to federal court then all bets are off.
  9. Love your take on things and when you said the following; My takeaway is: keep government out my business. You are spot on. My takeaway is this is exactly what our governor is doing. I know some here do not like our governor but he has done the right thing as far as the state is concerned. BUT this has now crossed into the unintended category. Also there is the pesky little word in all of this and it is "PASSPORT". Currently there is no such thing.
  10. Florida is still under the EO that becomes law on the first. In other words no they are still on the hook.
  11. Here is the law that everyone is concerned with: read: 1121 381.00316 COVID-19 vaccine documentation.— 1122 (1) A business entity, as defined in s. 768.38 to include 1123 any business operating in this state, may not require patrons or 1124 customers to provide any documentation certifying COVID-19 1125 vaccination or post-infection recovery to gain access to, entry 1126 upon, or service from the business operations in this state. 1127 This subsection does not otherwise restrict businesses from 1128 instituting screening protocols consistent with authoritative or 1129 controlling government-issued guidance to protect public health. Notice the last sentence. The cruise lines can require screening, which is what I believe I saw last week, but you do not have to be screened if you have proof of vaccination.
  12. They (NCL) may be waiting to see what happens with other lines and what their experience may be.
  13. Older, retired, lots of life experiences, you know the types, but not know it all's
  14. Does anyone here know how long the wait will be after the test cruise before a revenue sailing?
  15. I will go and I am a seasoned citizen with some small underlying conditions. But I am vaccinated and refuse to live my life in fear. I go to Walmart , Lowes, Home Depot and the local race track that has at least 200-300 people there when I am there and have had no problems.
  16. I am not exactly sure of the wording in the test cruise requirements but that makes sense. However I interrupted the order as TOTAL number of available spaces. So If Freedom's total is 4000 (it may be more just using and example) the 400 could go on a test cruise.
  17. If I understand the rules of the game here, and I may not, every ship that RC will sail during the CSO must have a test cruise at 10% capacity.
  18. Walmart has a plastic sleeve for about 4 dollars. That way if a booster is required then you simply pull it out and the authority giving the booster can up grade. https://www.walmart.com/ip/CDC-ID-Card-Protector-4-X-3-Inches-Immunization-Badge-Cards-Holder-Clear-Vinyl-Plastic-Sleeve-Waterproof-Type-Resealable-Zip-Events-Trav
