OMG I so agree with you Mon it is getting a little out of hand we as cruisers need to send a message by not buying there surveys no to rockets we have a rockets here in the mall of the melenia  in Orlando empty most of the time the rockets on the oasis is terrible they are nothing special as for the pay per view concept to the entertainment most of the shows I have seen onboard are high school level and mildly entertaining I don't go to most of them anyway so my feeling if they go through with there 79.00 plan they will be playing to empty seats I have a feeling the ships that still have theaters will test charging for seats.personally I had a problem with cruise lines paying there crew out of our pockets with what they call gratuities when if one thinks about it the amount of money generated through these gratuities every day from every person is huge I am willing to bet it comes close to covering the crew salaries which are meager at best I personally always take very good care of  individuals who WOW me and always pay my gratuities but I would just once love to be a fly on the wall and see exactly where the gratuity money goes with all the nickel and dimeing going on in Royal now days I think I know

I use an app on my phone called Image Size.   I generally go for 900 pixels wide unless a menu or text then 1500 pixels wide.

Use a picture program (photo editor)  to shrink it - it has to be under 50Kb - which is really small.  Most computers have such programs on them already.

You can resize photos with sites like this: http://www.simpleimageresizer.com/
Just upload your photo, set the new dimensions, and download the resized photo, which you'll then use for the site.  If you have any trouble let us know the exact errors or other messages you're getting.

henrysea13 reacted to twangster in Phone Case Wrist Strap Hack
Who hasn't experienced the death grip syndrome holding a phone near or over the railing of a ship to take a picture?
I took a wrist strap from an old relic point and shoot camera that was collecting dust and I found a way of modifying a plain phone case I bought at a local discount store for $10. It's a Speck case and does a decent job protecting my phone but it didn't come with a wrist strap.

I simply drilled two holes in the corner of the case and using the strap from my old point and shoot camera I now have a wrist strap for my phone.

Now when I take a picture I can hold my phone over the railing and I am relaxed without any concerns I might drop my phone in the sea.
If you don't have access to a drill, you can loop the strap through one of the slots on the case that is used for the microphone or speaker on the bottom of the phone.

This approach isn't as strong but it works in a pinch.

If you don't have an old wrist strap you can buy them for a few bucks on Amazon.
It's amazing what a difference it makes knowing your phone is safe.  I've grown to like it so much it stays on my phone now and it does a great job when walking the dog!
Buying a cheap case and strap is a small price to pay compared to losing your phone even if you only use it when cruising.

And this is the exact reason why I don't bother with the web site other than to look things up for information........ other than that, bookings, changes, payments, etc...... I always just call it in ..... never had a long wait time, incident, or mistake .......

@invkevin, we're all having the same problems. Royal's IT department needs to be taken to the woodshed for this botched upgrade release.
Others here have pointed to the old login URL, which still works and does still properly allow you to get to the Cruise Planner and documentation. Just hit this directly instead of trying to log in through the Royal site's Log In link: https://secure.royalcaribbean.com/mycruises/processLogin.do

this rule was part of the Royal culture way back and brought back as of January 1 2018 if you are booked before then you went under the old rule and did not have to buy for everybody 21 and up I went on the indy in January and was able to buy just mine I will say that a family member in another room with an adult also in the room bought the refreshment package pre cruise and on the ship before it sailed went to one of the sales tables on the promenade and paid the difference to upgrade to the deluxe and did not have to pay for the other person the key they told me was before it sailed according to the sales person new year new rules

purchasing deluxe package for everyone in the cabin over 21 what used to cost me 300 now costs me 600 even though the other person in my party may and I repeat may drink one beer a day I was told that the exceptions do not take into consideration the very light drinkers and a very close friend of mine asked me what would stop him from claiming religious expense and sharing I said everything is paid for and recorded to your seapass if the computer saw any irregularitys  to your ordering they would be able to detect it and probably revoke your package with no refund

I totally agree Twangster its all about the money but a company as large as Royal that so heavily depends on the websites for income bookings sales of all types should have one of the best IT depts.around every time a potential sale is botched by the dreaded "bad request or try again later"another missed opportunity occurs in my humble opinion I thank you very much for replying to my post so quickly for I value your input if I were Mr Bayley I would look into the operation of what I consider to be a very essential part of the company entrusted to me and the overall bottom line Cruise on my friends

henrysea13 got a reaction from Lindsay in Messenger App on Independence of the Seas??
I would truly welcome such an app BUT I have little confidence in Royals IT people there website works terribly I go on the crown and anchor website to check package prices when I try to back out of cruise planner I always get BAD REQUEST which leaves the booking open for about 30 minutes so no changes can be made or you cant check other bookings without going back to square one or select other things like shore excursions for about 30 minutes if you go to firefox no problem works well.I worked for large companies for many years before retiring and was there at the get go for IT depts.and never had the problems Royal has it is my opinion that they replace there IT staff with people that know what there doing I am sure they could hire far better then what they have now with just the profit they are now making from the new drink package rule  ha ha just kidding come on  royal you can do better than this for now firefox it is

I've led IT departments.  Any IT shop is only as good as the funding it gets.  Many companies don't see value in IT, it's a just an expense to them.  I'm not saying that is how Mr. Bayley views IT but I've turned down jobs at companies when IT doesn't report to the CEO.  When they report to the CFO it's not a fun place to be.

    Welcome to the boards!
I just want to clarify what you are asking.  You are saying that you do not require an HA room but booked one?  Ok, no problem so far.  So occasionally HA rooms are booked up with people who do not require them, and then someone who does require one books and they have to reassign someone so the handicapped person can have an accessible room.  And your question is how can you stop a handicapped person from getting an accessible room, on account of you (someone who does not require an accessible room) booking it first?
I would say good luck with that, but I feel more appropriate would be "break a leg"!

The cruise port area in Costa Maya has a free pool.   Also, search for 'Krazy Lobster Mahahual'.  Cheap shuttle ride.

I had interior cabins on both Freedom and Indy that were pretty much mirror images of each other.  This photo from Indy:

I find my cabin on Liberty easier to get around the bed and to access both sides.  This is largely due to the rounded bed found on many of the newer ships.  On Freedom/Indy access to the right side of the bed is a bit of a pain.
I noticed some elevator lobby noise on day 1 right after cabins opened up but haven't heard much more.  I crashed early last night and wasn't bother by any.  Any noise I do hear is coming through the door (not through walls) and like any cabin, any where, loud talkers or laughers in the hall can be heard as they walk past your cabin.
Given a choice I'd take this new cabin on Liberty.  Still has that new cabin smell.

I have found that the doors on the average cabin are to small to get a wheelchair through but I have seen that many people park theres in the hallway yes it does cause a bit of a traffic jam at times but not that often I could see them causing a safety concern in emergency situations though I travel with my daughter occasionally who is wheelchair bound and have never had a problem except on the smaller ships with the very tight hallways I would suggest if you have questions that you call Royals access dept 866 592 7225 they have helped me many times in the past they have measurements for doors and have for me found accesable cabins when all other sources said there were none available also you will have to fill out a form describing the disability and special need you can list any special dietary needs ask about shore excursions etc for instance you can not use the tender boats where necessary to access ports unless the person in the wheelchair can transfer out of the chair to the tender which my daughter can not This dept has been a great help to me in the past and using them eliminates unpleasant suprises on your cruise

I have cruised both ways and to tell the truth I have to say I like solo cruising the best I have a cruise on the brilliance oct 1 2018 5 nite out of Tampa and I have a studio inside there are only 3 on the ship then I have a 8 night nov 24 2018 on the adventure out of port everglades with the family. I love being with the family but I come home tired every time from the cruise , as Twangster said when cruising solo I am in charge of my itinerary I eat when I want nap when I want go where I want any time I want I must confess I am not to much of a people person I always manage to meet nice people though on board and have always found some one to pal up with to see the ports or eat with and I am always though not actively for someone to eat with because I cant stand large tables of people I don't know and have more than once opted for dinner in the windjammer alone when the MDR Maitre d told me that there was no option but to sit with large groups of paired off strangers. When you solo its your choice you tend to get much more rest catch a movie if you want to meet and greet there are always solo get togethers and don't forget the joy of adventureing and discovering new areas of the ship spend hours talking to the crew learning much about the ports we are visiting even paling up with some of them and finding that special hidden eatery as I did in the dud port of Freeport they had a lobster roll sandwhich that I think about once a week or so and cant wait to return to Freeport and that is something I have never heard any where from anyone I look forward to my next solo and the only negative I can think of is your security in port be careful where you go and do stay with the other cruisers in the area ,other than that for me its a win win cruise on my friends
