Person was injured on the job and then later fired because the company claimed the injury prevented her from doing her job.  I won't comment on the judgement amount, it will most likely come down upon appeal, but I wouldn't call this as frivolous as filing as suit against McD's for overcharging 30 cents on a burger.

McDonald's is currently being sued for not offering a Quarter Pounder without cheese which used to be on the menu. The plaintiffs claim they're being overcharged when they order it without cheese as they're not being compensated for that which they have taken off when ordering.

while it is true the perks are a little scarce at platinum and emerald there are some and your not that far from diamond it is worth the wait ask your room steward for the C+A robe they are very comfortable and the one big advantage so far for me as platinum was the check in at the port my indy cruise from ft laud this past February I walked into the big room only to see a huge amount of people waiting to check in and to my surprise I was directed to check in desk further in the room marked platinum there was no one ahead of me my check in took less then 5 mins and I was seated in a very comfortable not crowded area to await the rest of my party who are gold they stood in line for close to one hour . the jump from platinum to emerald is short making attaining diamond fairly easy I attain emerald the first day of my next cruise and on the following cruise a month later I begin to chip away to diamond .Hang in there Royal is a fantastic cruise line with few hiccups stay "loyal to royal" it will be worth it in my humble opinion

Heaven forbid that it was put at 1 penny more.  $ 9.99 oh that`s not bad.   $ 10.00 oh my gosh that`s insane.  All in the marketing.  The same as when you hit  hundreds and thousands.  Keep it a penny under and that next threshold and nobody minds.

This is exactly how it was for my wife and I ....... we had a bad experience with a local travel agent so we were a bit skeptical when it comes to TA's in general .... Michelle called us on a Sunday and was able to "talk us away from the cliff".  She was so patient with all of our questions that by the end of the conversation, we turned two cruises over to her, not because we wanted to give a TA another try, but because we like Michelle.  She sold us on HER, as a person, that we felt would "have our back"..... which she has ....... @michelle, Thank You .......you keep doing what you're doing.

Could not agree more with what you said.  In some many facets of travel, going on your own is often encouraged, but when it comes to cruising, using a TA is such an advantage!

To try and put this thread back on track, that is one reason why I use MEI and Michelle, because I know that everything will be like I like it and if not she will get it fixed for me.
The shopaholic part, after reading a blog the other day about Harmony, I would have booked a Harmony cruise if the summer 2020 cruises were out, lol.

One other thing for me is my relationship with people that entrust me with their trips

     - we take our clients and our friendships/bookings with them very serious - Certainly MEI Travel
supports this blog and we are thrilled to be doing that. And WE CAN"T TELL YOU THANK YOU
enough for entrusting us to handle your cruises - thank you - thank you - but its the relationship
with Matt and the Blog that is also of great value as well to me.

AND - I have many clients that after 10-12 years of booking with me are friends too
They don't just book cruises- they book all trips with me - and now I'm moving down to their
Kids Trips as well - its awesome!    And once I learn your likes/ etc.  I don't have to come ask
you "what type of cabin?  what dining"  I try hard to get to know your likes/dislikes so we work
as a Team - and other MEI Agents do this as well.

TO me - besides all things listed here in the post about perks and supports -its about
    that relationship too!

You nailed it.  At a certain point, my hope is you like this site enough to want to support it.  There are two easy ways to do so that have the greatest impact: become a Royal Caribbean Blog Insider and support our sponsor.  It not only pays for the many costs that keep this site running (and in many cases ad-free), but also enables me to conduct more research and create new content that would otherwise be financially impossible.
I also try to point out that I've been using MEI Travel well before they ever became a sponsor of this site.  I think it's important to stand behind and be a consumer of the sponsors, as it does my no good to promote a product or service that I don't personally care for.

Interesting experience tonight booking Radiance. (YOLO moment).
It's a 2019 cruise and I wanted something refundable so I emailed my usual TA.  I received a bounce saying she is out of the office and I was interested in a specific cabin so I called Royal direct, given that the website doesn't offer refundable anymore.  I booked direct it, refundable and paid the $450 deposit.
Had I fully read the bounce email from my usual TA I would have seen she was actually working tonight which I learned when she called me.
For the same refundable cabin, she was $200 cheaper, I get $50 in OBC, a spa treatment, one specialty dinner, plus 15,000 miles on my favorite airline.  Oh, and no deposit.
I cancelled my direct booking and booked it through my normal TA.  Same cabin.  I added the prepaid gratuities and I'm still less than RCI direct without prepaid gratuity.
Other observation - I first called the RCI 866 number and listened to MOH (Music on Hold) for about 10 minutes.  I hung up and called the C&A number who answered immediately.  I booked it through the C&A team, then an hour later cancelled it through the C&A team.  No issues cancelling the refundable booking but it will likely take a few days for $450 deposit to appear as a credit.
    Radiance here I come!
EDIT - To be fair,  I don't get spa treatments and specialty dining on every cruise booked.  They are occasional perks typically on longer cruises but with double digits of cruises booked, I've yet to find a downside of using a travel agent.
The airline miles are nothing to sneeze at.  I'm flying on points to 3 cruises this year (so far) including Barcelona in the comfort plus cabin for Symphony and will likely get a 1 or 2 more cruise flights for free before 2018 is done.

That's who @twangster is, he's Jason Bourne, no wonder there are not pictures of him, he's a ghost, he uses the cruise industry as a cover to travel from country to country.
He's ID must have gotten burned over on Carnival...

Royal need to figure out a way to cool the Suite deck down, at least on the O class, the air does not move through there well because of the roof sheets on the Solarium. It can turn in to a sweat box up there, especially in some of the cabanas...
"Shaking the tree boss" (See how many of the younger folks get that)...

You can't always, but there are certain signs such as asking the concierge some very dumb question and taking 30 minutes of their time doing so that illustrates a complete lack of cruise history or applying some profiling techniques such as people in their 30s that are possibly pinnacle but unlikely.
Like the guy in his early 20s looking like something that just spent 6 nights on the streets of NY on a formal night in the Suite Lounge.  There is after all a dress code suggestion.  I'm guessing it wasn't a pinnacle doing their best impression of a barefoot homeless person while everyone else was at least wearing long pants (and shoes).

I'm not saying you haven't drop some coin, but so have Pinnacles over their years of loyalty.
It is the same which is why RCI has the policy that they do - both of you are allowed in the Suite Lounge.  Diamond Plus are not as they haven't earned it.
If its that important to you maybe it's time to try MSC since they have a wall separating suite guests from non-suite guests.
