  1. 1- I knew they wouldn't force an alcoholic to buy a package. 2- benefits of solo travel! I do what I want!!!! I'm just waiting for the package price to go down...
  2. Nope, but I work out almost every day when I cruise to avoid gaining. Started from the first cruise I went on - had to squeeze into a very fitted, very expensive bridesmaid's dress that would not allow for an all day binge. Now it's just what I do, almost everyone thinks I'm nuts but I'm not complaining afterwards.
  3. 100% had this happen. I prefer a bigger table with more people but I'm the more the merrier type and love to get to know new people on cruises. Saying that - I work in NYC and avoid people like they have the plague in my regular life.
  4. OOH! I'm following. One request - I REALLY enjoy food - if you're going to post food pictures (yay) can you list what the food is? I can make out what most of it is but the first pic is interesting and I'm curious!
  5. oooh, you're right. I actually love him. I just had a weird reaction and thought of all of the horror movies I've had to watch that had ventriloquists that were evil.
  6. As a newer member myself I don't think this site has trouble attracting new members. I've found the posters here all to be super helpful and I enjoy reading everyone's posts and especially enjoy the overall tone on these boards. Speaking only for myself - I totally understand the frustration of the OP and OP has every right to his/her own feelings. Your $$$ trip is up in the air. There just seems to be a lack of empathy and maybe a little disassociation with the whole situation. My frustration with your post is that I'm with you for the most part but then you use words like "savior" and "humanitarian" and how maybe your trip is more important than people getting food/water/shelter.
  7. Enjoy every second of it! I had a balcony last year but next year's cruise - since I decided not to room with any of my friends and splurged on the single studio - I didn't get a balcony. I'm fine with an inside room, I've done it before but am slightly spoiled.
  8. Love you r review and your attitudes. Lemonade for all, maybe with a little vodka!
  9. It was the 4th day for mine, I've heard about the same +/- a day.
  10. This thread is making me laugh! My dad used to make games for me (he was a computer programmer back then, didn't stay with it) that would rival simple games, like Pong, on our Commodore Vic20.
  11. POUTINE! French fries with cheese curd and gravy. Sorry, I got excited for a second. I went to school in upstate NY right near Canada and that was as popular as pizza for late night food. I miss it a little.
  12. I've only been on this board for a short time but this is the second Rush quote I've seen... ;)
  13. I love Dallas!!! I'll be there in a few weeks to visit friends.
  14. Cruise Critic is great for info but awful if you can't ignore some people's negativity.
  15. Did a similar trip with Adventure last year with friends who did their research. We didn't do an excursion - we walked from the ship to the Boatyard (I think the walk was 2 miles each way but I can't be counted on for that...a taxi would work, I'm sure. )and rented some chairs on the beach. We walked a little until we found an area with prices we were okay with. It was one of my best experiences of the entire trip. It was a low-key day and the water was the warmest and bluest of all the beaches I'd have ever been. Just an idea.
  16. Looking forward to hearing about your trip. Sounds like you have the right attitude.
  17. I'd rather a small space with a real bed than more space and a hammock...especially for a studio.
