  1. Seriously, you'd think it would be two. In my opinion, one of the few things missing from the Quantum class ships is a covered jogging track. For a ship built specifically to sail in colder temps, that is a miss.
  2. We bought it for a 12 night cruise next year, at least with one punch per card it will keep those caffeine levels down, and will last us for almost each day of the cruise. I think we can handle one small coffee at a time, we don't need large ones. We're not doing drink packages since it's so many nights, so this will definitely help keep us in budget.
  3. Nothing I've already booked ever seems to go down, but a couple we're watching have. We're saving a few hundred on the Anthem group cruise. Don't have the numbers with me to say how much, I think around $500 for the 4 of us?
  4. We actually used them on Quantum; Vintages was one of our favorite places to hang out. I still remember the wine we liked too: it was called Quantum! LOL
  5. We've sailed that week twice and you will most definitely be on a ship full of kids Wilson! I'm actually surprised that it's cheaper that week, usually all travel-related prices go up that week. Especially flights to Florida.
  6. Thanks! We're snowed in so we have to skip our basketball game tonight, which means...experiment time!! I make my own syrup, don't consume artificial colors; but will look for this bottle in the liquor store to see if they use any. My home made syrup using culinary lavender from a local lavender farm (yes, I do have one within a 10 minute drive from me) resulted in a golden colored syrup.
  7. Thanks! Hmm vodka, not rum? I could've sworn the menu said rum. No wonder why it tasted wrong!!! Thank you so much!! Edit: I looked up a photo of the bar menu online and it says Bacardi Superior Rum. Hmmmm...maybe different ships make it differently. Will experiment!
  8. It's 6 "points" not 6 documents. Some points are worth more than others, like a passport is worth 4. You have to pick at least one document from the "primary" category, which range between 2-4 points, based on the document. Then you fill the rest of the 6 with documents from the "secondary" category. These range from 1-3 points each. Some require more than 1 thing for the point(s). Like if you use a school photo ID (high school or college) you must also have a transcript from the school to complete the item. It's annoying.
  9. @twangster could you do a favor for me? If you find yourself in the Schooner Bar, can you ask for the recipe for the lavender daiquiri? I tried to make it at home and it's just not the same. I know what the menu says is in it, which is lavender syrup and rum. But I don't know the proportions. All the recipes I find online include lime juice, and I tried it both with and without and neither are close. I did make my own lavender syrup, which may be part of the difference, but I'd like to try to replicate it closer to the original. Thanks!
  10. We're hoping to go on the group cruise too. July is hard for us as our college kids are home and it's impossible to know who will be around that summer and who will be working/internship. We feel guilty leaving them when they are only here for a couple months. We're debating booking a room for four, then cancelling one or both if needed. But our goal for 2019 is to get the 11 points we'll need to be Diamond, so will more than likely take two cruises to get that. Have thought about just doing the group cruise in a junior suite too; I was trying to price out a couple options so when the group cruise is announced we can book.
  11. Okay, getting a bit annoyed here. We are in the one-day preview for C&A and I'm pricing a bunch of different options for 2019. Is it possible RCCL is holding back rooms, not making them available for us today? One particular sailing supposedly has NO available interior cabins on an entire deck 8. When I go down a deck to 7, there are 3 available. But if I go down to deck 6, there are a bunch. Are they trying to fill the lower decks first, or just not letting us get a head start on all rooms? There is more than 1 sailing that I'm seeing this type of result on, and quite honestly I don't think there are a lot of C&A members jumping at booking up all the Canada/New England sailings that summer. I can't possibly have chosen all charter sailings either.
  12. I can't imagine why NJ needs an extension - we need to show tons of identification to get our licenses. The six-point system requires so much that we can't NOT be compliant. I feel like it was easier to get a passport than come up with the 6 points for the license! Even harder when you are married and some things are only in one spouse's name.
  13. Thanks! I've seen it as just another listing under the evening activities in some compasses. I'm sure they will find someone besides us old folks (and each other) to hang with that week.
  14. We are planning Alaska on Ovation in 2020. My oldest graduates college that year and we want to do something special. Going to be awesome!!
  15. If you scan and e-mail them to Matt, he will post it in the compass section of the blog. [email protected]
  16. Okay finally found my question sheet. Do you still have the compasses? We're curious if there are any activities listed for the "young adults." We've seen it listed as Club 18-20, as 18-23, and 18-25+. The activities are usually listed in the regular compasses, no special teen page, and usually in the evenings activity section. We're taking our 18 & 20 yr old with us next May and while they are not disappointed that they are too old for the teen program they are wondering if there is anything listed for the college set. I've seen in on some compasses, but not others. I'm wondering if it's not a seasonal type of thing, they pop up when the college set is more likely to sail as opposed to during a semester. So I'm looking to add data to my research. :D My husband wants to know if the golf simulator is still there? He was reading something online somewhere and it said it was still there, but I thought those were long gone. Thanks!
  17. I'm hoping that it gets upgraded during the refurb; I plan on scoping AND I'm getting a hamster for Christmas and want to use it!
  18. OMG I just noticed - that tv!! I wonder when the picture was taken? LOL I really hope those tvs are gone by now!
  19. Any pictures there for JS 9306? Much appreciated!
  20. In September we ate at a cute little place on Las Olas called Sweet Nectar. Small plates kinda place, with lots of cool craft beers. Dessert was AMAZING; it was a peanut butter ice cream sandwich made with a toasted glazed doughnut. DIVINE.
  21. I am old school; I carry paper files, I hand write my notes and lists & I also read books - hate staring at monitors/screens. I need to feel the paper and pen in my hands... One a side note, I am proud to say i just figured out how to multi-quote! LOL
  22. I wish I could! Waiting impatiently for 2019 Bermuda sailings to be announced next week, and also for Ovation Alaska 2020 whenever that will be. Then we're done. Unless Matt plans an awesome group cruise that fits in with our kinda picky work schedules. :D
  23. Thanks! We got the sold package for our 18 yr old that doesn't drink soda. Was hoping they had the machines so he could get other options. This will be our big money waster of the trip, he'll most likely not use them as he pretty much only drinks water and lemonade, but the bundle with Voom was worth it.
