  1. I woke this morning to see Matt's post and we also booked it. However by the time we got to book it there were no Junior Suites available & all that was left in the Suite Class was Grand Suites and above. A Grand Suite was coming in at €13,778.00 in total. We felt that was outside our budget so we booked a Ocean View Balcony We booked April 18, 2019 - 16 Nights Barcelona to Dubai Via the Suez Canal
  2. So the update is that we woke this morning from an email from Royal to find out we have been upgraded to a Crown Loft Suite. ??
  3. Yep I am indeed wiggin out. I like to be organised & this has me nervous. Our first time booking a GTY room but that was all that was available in the suite class when we booked this in early April so we took a gamble with it. I will keep ye all posted with what happens on Saturday
  4. Thanks all for your replies. I did ring back and asked was there anything available for us to upgrade so we could get a cabin assigned but they said there was nothing available. Looks like we will just have to get to the port super early on Saturday morning.
  5. Spoke to Royal and there is nothing available as of yet. He said we will have to wait until we are at port on Saturday for our cabin to be assigned
  6. We didn’t use an agent this time round & booked direct with Royal. We have checked in online but can’t print set sail passes & can only print blank luggage tags. i think I’m going to have to call them today to see what they say.
  7. We are due to sail on Harmony on Saturday and are still waiting on our cabin number to be assigned. We booked a GTY Junior Suite. For those that have booked a GTY in the past , have you ever waited this close to sailing date for your cabin number.
  8. Just checked cruise calender and Disney Fantasy docks at Havensight that day so might give Magens Bay a miss even though the pictures of it look amazing. Your memory does serve you right, i have read that there is a small fee to get into Magens Bay which was fine by us. Need to reconsider our options so.
  9. Hi all I'm looking for recommendations for beaches when we dock at St Thomas for our upcoming cruise in 17 days time . Looking for a Beach that's isn't crowded , a beach that we can rent chairs at and a beach that we can purchase food and drinks at . I've narrowed it down to the following beaches in no particular order Magens Bay Lindquist Beach Sapphire Beach Honeymoon Bay on Water Island I've read reviews that Magens Bay can be crowded when cruise ships are in port - is this the case? Does the same apply for Sapphire Beach when cruise ships are in port
  10. Would you mind posting the link you found them on the UK/EU Amazon site. I'm in Ireland & finding it hard to source luggage tags for our cruise next month.
  11. You can get the train from Cobh into Cork City (Kent Station) and from there you need to get the number 215 bus to Blarney. Once you arrive at Kent Station you will have approx 10 minute walk to the bus stop. When you get off the train just ask someone to give you directions. The bus driver will let you know when you are in Blarney. You could also use local tour bus companies such as http://cobhcoaches.ie/blarney-castle-tours/ or http://www.ecoach.ie/ Your other option is a taxi but more expensive . Approx €40-€50 each way depending on traffic (note you do not tip cab drivers in Ireland) I'm not sure if you are aware that Cobh was the last port for passengers to embark on the Titanic so their is a small museum in the town etc
  12. Your welcome. If I can help with any other questions you may have for the other cities you be stopping off at in Ireland, don't hesitate to ask & hopefully I can answer the question.
  13. If your hubby loves history then I would recommend Reginald's Tower, Medieval Museum and Bishops Palace which are all in the Viking Triangle. http://www.waterfordtreasures.com House of Waterford Crystal is also within the Viking Triangle. The tour is approx 50 minutes and you could do this either before or after the above museums. https://www.waterfordvisitorcentre.com/content/attractions-waterford For a walking tour of Waterford City I would recommend Jack Burtchaell historic walking tour of Waterford. http://www.jackswalkingtours.com/ I would also recommend the Waterford Greenway which a is spectacular 46km off-road cycling & walking trail along an old railway line between Waterford and Dungarvan. http://www.visitwaterfordgreenway.com/http://www.deisegreenway.com I would recommend bike hire from Greenway Waterford Bike Hire https://www.waterfordgreenwaybikehire.com/ https://www.facebook.com/greenwaywaterford/ Another option is Mount Congreve Gardens http://www.mountcongreve.com/ and you can also access Mount Congreve Gardens from the Greenway if you wish to stop off to visit the gardens or just stop off for refreshments & snacks in the Cafe on site. Another option is the Copper Coast Geopark (your ship might have this as a shore excursion). The Copper Coast gets its name from the 19th Century Copper Mines that lie at its heart. It comprises of approx 25 kilometers of spectacular coastline consisting of beaches and coves buttressed and enclosed by rocky headlands. Oceans, volcanoes, deserts and ice sheets all combined to create the rocks, which provide the physical foundation of the natural and cultural landscapes of The Copper Coast. https://coppercoastgeopark.com/ Curraghmore House & Gardens in Portlaw, Co Waterford. It opens from Easter to September for guided tours at 11am & 2pm Wednesday to Sunday. Outside this, you must contact them to arrange private tours. However note from Dunmore East where your ship will dock its approx 45 mins drive each way. http://curraghmorehouse.ie/ Your ship will dock in Dunmore East which is approx 25 minutes drive to Waterford city. On your return allow extra time as there can be delays with traffic at certain times of the day in the city. If yourself or your husband like water activities then check out Dunmore Adventure for things like Kayaking, open canoeing, rock climbing etc. http://www.dunmoreadventure.com/ Any other info you need on the city, let me know. The above is just a taster of what you can do in the city, if you were hiring a car for the day then there are plenty more options outside the city i.e Mahon Falls in the Comeragh Mountains, Ardmore in Co Waterford, Colligan Woods Walk in Dungarvan, Dromana Gate Bridge etc
  14. In Cork City check out the following things English Market, Cork City Goal, Spike Island Tour https://corkcitygaol.com/about/ http://www.spikeislandcork.ie/ If you have time Blarney Castle is worth a visit. The grounds of the castle are lovely and could spend a whole day exploring the grounds. Kinsale in Cork is a lovely also. Really good seafood. http://www.fishyfishy.ie/ http://www.manfridaykinsale.ie/ Charles Fort in Kinsale is worth a visit http://www.heritageireland.ie/en/south-west/charlesfort/ However i feel you wont have time to visit Blarney Castle & Kinsale in one day.
  15. I'm from and live in Waterford City. How long are you in port for? I presume the ship is docking in the seaside village of Dunmore East. Once I know how long you are in port for I can offer suggestions. Waterford City is the oldest city in Ireland and full of history. It was founded by Vikings in 914 A.D. and the old city walls still remain in parts of the city let me know your interests
  16. Our travel agent chose this dining option for us and from what i understand we can dine at any time from 5:30pm - 9pm. We logged into the cruise planner today to book a 3 night dining package and we thought we would make reservations also for the main dining room for the other nights. However on Day 1-4 and Day 7 of our cruise there was no availability for the main dining room between 6pm to 8pm. Does this mean its fully booked during this time frame? Our preference would be to eat at 7:15/7:30pm so if we turn up on the evenings we wish to eat at main dining room at approx 7:15, would we be seated?
  17. Thanks all for taking the time to reply and your input has been a great help to us. I spoke with Royal Caribbean on the phone today and they have told me that we can avail of priority boarding on disembarking the ship. I just need to speak to Guest Services once we board the ship and they will help us make our 08:35am flight. She said we would be allowed to disembark at 06:45am and as we are doing the self assist disembarking we should be through customs within 30mins. However to be on the safe side we have also booked the 11:25am flight with Southwest. If we don't make our 08:35am flight we can just claim it against our travel insurance. Glad to hear that Southwest are a great airline as we haven't flown with them before. Thanks for letting me know about the $15 fee.
  18. No we are not flying back to Ireland. We are flying onto New Orleans for a few days so it will be a domestic flight and from past experiences of flying on domestic flights within United States you have to check your bags in no later than 45mins before departure. We were hoping to get to New Orleans early that day as we are meeting up with friends who are now living in the States and are flying into New Orleans to meet up with us and celebrate Labor Day weekend so we were hoping to make the most of our time with them. Thank you all so much for your replies and help. I just have to break the news now to my partner this evening that we have to re-book flights and do a layover. He wont be happy.
  19. Flights out of Miami airport are also late evening. I'm looking at flights now out of FLL with a short layover - do you think if we took our own luggage off the ship that we could make a 10:40am flight with Southwest Airline or should we go with a later flight at either 11:25am (Southwest Airlines) or 12:00 with United
  20. Thanks all for your responses. Seems like as a newbie to cruising I've made a big blunder/mistake with our flights on disembarkation day. I thought because the ship docks early morning people would avail of breakfast before disembarking the ship and we could have gotten off straight away & through customs all within an hour. We had paid a fee with Jet Blue to use the facility of express security etc so we thought this would get us through security check quickly. i must now re-look at flights as JetBlue don't have any other flights out of FLL that day & the next direct flight with another airline is not till after 5pm that day.
  21. Hi Al Myself and my partner will be sailing on our first cruise on 27th August. We are sailing on Allure of Seas from Fort Lauderdale (Eastern Caribbean cruise). We are looking forward to it but we didn't realise that so much planning//booking/research would need to be done before we board the ship. I'm so glad i came across this forum as it has been a great help to us so far but I still have a few questions and I'm sorry if these questions have already been asked on the forum 1) Embarkation Day - How early should we arrive at Port Everglades Port. I have read that there can be long queues. I have also read on this forum if i download the passport app that this could speed things up for us. We are thinking of arriving around 10am - is this too early? Also once we board the ship are we allowed access to our cabin or will this happen later during the day? 2) Dining Packages - We are thinking of adding a 3 night dining package to our cruise - the fee we pay for this, is this a cover charge for the restaurants or will this cover our meals. Our travel agent added prepaid gratuities to our cruise when she booked it for us so we are wondering, if we book this package is the gratuity still included or do we just tip our waiter 20% at the end of our meal. 3) Disembarking Day - our cruise docks at 6:15am at Fort Lauderdale. Since researching this forum i see you cant just get off the ship, that you are given an allocated time but i have also seen that if you carry your own luggage off and don't leave it out the night before you can disembark first. The thing is that we have already booked an 08:35am flight from Fort Lauderdale airport to New Orleans for the second part of our holiday(vacation) before researching this forum. We thought we would just be able to get off the ship once it docked at 6:15am. Is it possible to still make our 08:35am flight if we carry our own luggage off the ship. I have checked with our airline Jet Blue and we need to be checked in no later than 40 minutes before our flight so that would be 07:55am. We were just going to get an Uber to the airport once we got off the ship.
