  1. They had several reggae bands by the pool on the Libby in early May. pops
  2. 5 of us were traveling with a diamond (27th cruise), and beginning with boarding we were a party to some benefits of her status. She (retired travel agent) probably knew more about a few of the perks we got than we did. Upon returning home, a perk that is still paying off is the brand and roast of the RCCL coffee that one of the RCCL staff members emailed to us ... whoever you are that selected that coffee to use on cruises, you have a fine set of taste buds. : ) Pops
  3. Hey Heather, the coffee aboard Liberty in May was Seattle's Best "Henry's Blend". Do a search and you'll find a thread about it a few months ago. We buy it locally now,... probably one of the better cups of coffee we've ever had, and served in the MDR, Windjammer and Cafe Promenade, no charge. You're in for a great cruise ... pops
  4. Hey Scott, you can't go wrong with Liberty ... BIG, BOLD, and BEAUTIFUL!! Great crew, didn't have to use the life boats, but brother, I wore out the soft serve ice cream machines and the coffee urns. : ) You guys are in for a treat! pops
  5. Well, if we had to go by volume drunk, I'm sure I drank a trough of the Liberty's coffee. Margaritas were mighty good tho. pops
  6. Yep, the Liberty was great! The skipper said about 99% of navigation was done by computer (local pilots bring ships in to port) ... I'd guess computers play a big part in ship comfort as well, but there's always the ice cream machines and the ice rink to fall back on, or a cup of Henry's. : ) pops
  7. If you're talking about walking from the stores at the pier, consider the 10 minute drive by taxi both ways particularly if the kids are younger. Didn't see the Mega store. pops
  8. We went with valet parking May 7-14 this year and it was worth every dime. $140 split 2 ways. We were off the ship and in our vehicle in about 30 minutes. ... weather was good on and off. You're in for a great week ... pops
  9. Heh, heh, heh ... you can't go wrong with Battleship, Walk the Plank or Rum and Pirates. pops
  10. My wife and I were in a Walmart to pick up some more #4 ... sitting on the shelf nearby I spotted a bag of Henry's Blend. Maybe Seattle's Best rethought the significance of the name "Henry". : ) We noticed that #4 was labeled Medium Dark and Henry's was labeled Dark Roast. Anyway we brought Henry's Blend home, put 2 heaping scoops with 16 ounces of water and my wife said that is very close to what Liberty was serving in May. Btw, Henry's was not on the shelf the last time we bought coffee.
  11. When you're done with the drill, head forward, go up a flight of steps and you're on the bow and can enjoy the cruise out of Galveston to the sea buoy.. A Carnival ship was in our wake May 7th ... maybe there's a race to see who gets underway first.. : ) If it's too windy on the bow, the miniature golf course is about 100' higher with a plexiglass surround. Have fun ... pops
  12. No charge at the MDR, Cafe Promenade and Windjammer on the Liberty in May. Bottomless urns too.
  13. Hey rjac, yep, I'm sure your wife will too. : ) You gotta do what you gotta do. The nearest store we can find #4 is a Walmart. The downside is my wife only allows me to brew it on weekends ... the upside is her taste buds could already taste Henry's when we left the cabin in the morning, a few floors below the Windjammer, so I'm counting on her to help me get the chemistry right. pops
  14. Good morning rjac ... hope this email finds you with a cup Henry's in your hand. After our Liberty cruise May 7-14, Brian Brooks with RCCL answered my email inquiring about that coffee and roast and I googled to find the story behind "Henry" ... we love the stuff & the Liberty crew. Here's the email that I'll probably post at the thread when I figure out how to measure the coffee at home: If you have any suggestions, let me/everyone else know. Thanks ... pops --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Pops, Thank you for your follow up correspondence regarding your sailing on the Liberty of the Seas. Please accept my apologies for the delay in my response. I have reached out to our Inventory Manager onboard and they are advising that it is Seattle’s Best Ground Henry’s Blend. We hope this information finds you well. Pops, again, thank you for your correspondence. We hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back onboard in the near future. Sincerely, Brian Brooks Royal Guest Experience Management

  16. The roast was originally called Henry's Blend after "Henry the cat" who lived at Seattle's Best roasting facility and napped by that roaster. Now it's #4. Ok, I've done my part ... now someone tell me how to measure it to get that excellent RCCL flavor. : ) pops
