  1. I personally would not travel without having suitcases locked. We put them on when we are through packing them and then take them off when they get to our cabin...and reverse when the cruise is over. All valuables and meds are in my carryon but we just feel comfortable when they are locked. We got the TSA approved ones at Amazon...very simple to use.

  2. We went to Labadee for the 1st time last Jan. We were pleasantly surprised and it is now one of our favorite ports. We are not beach people so we booked the Discover Haiti cruise which was wonderful. It is a 90 min. tour around the area. Our tour guide was excellent....very informative, polite and a great sense of humor. We learned so much about the island. I would highly recommend it.

Port Everglades offers MIA or FLL.

MIA - Flights 2pm to 11:59pm. AA, DL or UA.

FLL - Flights 11:30am to 11:59pm.  AA, AS, DL, B6, UA, WN.   (WN 11:30am to 6pm)

Hopefully PoM gets it soon.  I like using it.

Southwest is also a part of it.

It took about 6 days before we received credit for our cruise to show up. Now were Platinum members ?

I printed out our luggage tags for our next cruise and it still says gold, but who cares...just as long as our luggars shows up at our room ?.  Our boarding pass has platinum on it. The mystery of Royal Caribbean website will never be known, as too how it works or doesn't on many occasions ?

Congrats on Platinum! I know what you mean about their website...they really need to figure out and fix the problems once and for all!

  5. We just got off Harmony last week. We had enough points for a $300 certificate...hubby $200 and me $100...and they gave us our certificates right there in the casino.

I also have another casino question...are your points ongoing from cruise to cruise or do they expire at end of current cruise and you start at 0 on your next cruise? Thanks!

Dublin is very easy to do on your own and is very walkable. What's important, though, is to prepare tickets in advance. We did this for the Book of Kell's, the prison (which often sells out), and Guinness.

For Cobh, we booked with eCoach and went to Blarney Castle and Kinsale.

Suggestions on how to prepare tickets in advance? This is the first time we have been to these cities. Thanks!

  7. Hi. We are going on our first TA next April. Ports of call are Azores, Cobh, Dublin and Waterford and Amsterdam. We are flying out of Amsterdam the same day we arrive so no time there. Do you have any suggestions for the other 4 ports? I am particularly interested in Ireland as all my grandparents were born there. We would like to use local companies for excursions as the ones offered by the cruise line seem very expensive. Thanks for any help/advice.

Isn't it wonderful that Empress of the Seas has a non-smoking casino?  We can actually walk through it vice circumventing it.

Fortunately, in America smoking is a generational thing.  As soon as the WWII, Korea, and now the Vietnam generation dies off, so will the number of people that smoke.

The younger crowd realizes the perils of smoking and don't want anything to do with it as they want to live longer.

Nothing good comes from it (other than increased dividends from companies that foster it)  yet many problems incur.  The way to curb this is by taxing tobacco so it becomes un-affordable.

I've lost two parents due to smoking, as well as many uncles, aunts, and cousins.  One due exclusively to second hand smoke.

Yeah, it's my pet peeve.  We all have them.

I would welcome a non smoking ship(s) in RCCL and pray they do realize the harm smoking causes and prototypes the concept. They also need to enforce this on the crew.

    My $.02.

I somewhat agree with you. However, I think if a cruise line was to go totally non smoking, they would be out of business shortly...there are still a lot of smokers out there that cruise. Also, I detest heavy drinking. Maybe they should tax booze to make that unaffordable. I think the only happy medium is to have a smoking section...casino and 1 deck....and a drinking section...maybe just 1 or 2 bars instead of the number they have now. JMO

This like most smoking related fires, was caused by careless smokers, not just smokers in general. Both of my in-laws have smoked collectively probably 80 plus years, and have never burned anything down!

From what I heard, they flicked their cigarette..:2_grimacing:...and a gust of wind blew it into the cabin below theirs and started the fire.

I don't smoke but I don't mind smoking sections.  Live and let live.

However, there are reasons cruise lines fear smokers, and its another case of idiots ruining it for everybody.

I believe this is the fire that caused all the cruise lines to ban smoking on balconies.
