  1. Yes, that is the suite area I am referring to - those are apparently for suite guests. As to the other question about mobility - there is a Chill Island Golf cart that brings you from the end of the pier to the cabanas but it is quite a walk to the end of the pier so that could be an issue if you don't have a wheel chair for your father.
  2. Our concierge Ricardo said there was a limited number (maybe 20 in total) of lounge chairs for suite guests on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  3. It isn't for suite guests only. It is for people who booked a cabana (which could be anyone) and it has some chairs that are first come first serve in that area. Once they are filled up I don't think they allow anyone else in the area as the beach in front of the cabanas was empty and it was implied no one could sit in front of the cabanas. Saying that, if you look at the map you posted, right under the "C" in Cay is where the cabanas are. There is a sign when you walk in that says "Chill Island Cabanas" and there was a hut to check in. Suite guests got to use the lounge chairs. I am not sure if once it is all done they will move the cabanas because right now there are two rows of them but your picture looks like only one row ad closer to the beach.
  4. We just got back from our cruise on Anthem this past Saturday and I wanted to give those interested e a little information on the Chill Island Cabanas because I couldn't find out much online before we left. - The cabanas are amazing but there are definitely some that are better than others. We specifically chose #14 which is at the end so we had less people around us....unfortunately, it had more birds! The rock wall on the right of the picture is where the seagulls hang out. - Next time, we would book book Cabana #9, #10 or #11. - Cabanas 8 through 14 are in the front row and 1 through 7 are in the back. - There are chairs on the left of the cabanas that are for suite guests and it is first come, first serve. - If you have access to the Chill Island Cabana area (rented a cabana or are in a suite), there is an upgraded lunch buffet. Our buffet had lamb chops, ribs, chicken, salmon, shrimp and scallop skewers, Maine lobster tails, hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, fruit, cookies, etc. A lot of food!! - There is no bathroom area in the cabana area but it isn't that far of a walk - The beach is roped off for the cabana area - The snorkeling right beyond the roped off area was really good. We saw hundreds of fish of all different types. If anyone has any questions, let me know!!
  5. I changed my email address on my account and low and behold, I get emails! Apparently, if two people in same house have same email, you won't get any! I got royal upgrade email today too....not bidding because we are already in a Grand Suite and upgrade price isn't worth it.
  6. Another question for this amazing helpful group! Does anyone know how Royal prices the free Casino Royale prime interior cabins to suites? We are doing one in March and we paid $1800 for Grand Suite upgrade that would have cost $5000. The difference in price seemed to be around 60% off and did not equal the interior price discounted off Grand Suite price. Therefore, I am hoping that a Star class Suite at $9550 would offer the same percentage discount. Has anyone had experience upgrading an interior free prime cruise to a Star class suite? If so, what was the percentage discount or upgrade cost? Thank you!!!
  7. We just booked a Grand Loft Suite on Anthem and get the Star Class suite perks. What have others asked for from their Genie? I heard about bar cart service daily - is that on Anthem too? Will they stock your room with beer and hard alcohol so I don't have a long walk to get a drink?
  8. Thank you WAAAYTOOO! Fingers crossed! I have one for this September I want to put a hold on but it is for 4 of us so I need to put down $2,000 and don't want to risk the upgrade price being quoted at a much higher amount then we want to spend so we are waiting on that one. Do you know if we can book our free Prime cruise on the ship through Next Reservations? I only ask because we will be on Anthem through the first week of April which is when the free cruises are supposed to be released. It would be great if we could take advantage of lower deposits!
  9. Here is the situation. We want to put a deposit down on a cruise now for November 2020 (since there is only one room left in the suite we want). We are hoping that we can reserve it now and then when we receive our free Prime casino annual cruise in April 2020, call and have it re-priced (as an interior with an upgrade to a suite). I know I can do the upgrade but can it be done on already booked cruises? In other words, are they still allowing you to convert your already booked cruise to your "free" cruise? I called casino reservations number but they didn't sound too sure of themselves so I wanted to see if anyone has been able to do this.
  10. WAAAYTOOO - thank you for that information! I would be very disappointed! The thought of being on our balcony enjoying a hot tub in the middle of the ocean is quite appealing. I do like mworkman's idea of a kiddie pool - I am certain if we tried that they would no approve though!!!
  11. I will look at the Freedom class then....Royal Loft is a bit much outside my price range!!
  12. I am hoping someone can help me. I tried to Google the answer but came up with no specific answer to my question. For our 20th wedding anniversary we want to book a Royal Suite on one of the ships (I know not all ships have one). Specifically, we want one with the outdoor hot tub. Are there only certain class ships that have the hot tub? I didn't think Oasis class ships had a Royal Suite and I didn't see one with a hot tub outside on Grandeur or Mariner...does anyone know which ships do? I would like to limit my search to those specific ships. We are also looking at other suites (I understand there are much better ones out there) but we want to price compare to those suites versus the Royal Suite and decide.
  13. I think work may have been blocking them - hopefully everything is working now....we'll see.
  14. I finally got an email!!! Randomly, I was online looking at cruises and I left the website without booking anything. I received an email from Royal Caribbean Marketing asking if I would like to continue booking my cruise. Interestingly, although Royal said all correspondence is going to my yahoo address, this one email came through my work address. I called and they explained that if I had ever used my work email to do online check in for a past cruise it is probably using that email. At any rate, I went in and changed my email address and have received one email to my yahoo account since then. Still nothing on RoyalUP but maybe I will start to receive emails now!
  15. Great - I am hoping that the pier is done because we do have a cabana already booked. I was hoping to understand before I get on the ship which cabana I want so I could reserve it through our concierge since we are in a sweet.
  16. It is so frustrating as I would like to be able to get an offer to bid on an upgrade if we wanted.
  17. Two questions...1) we have reserved a cabana for this early April. Has anyone been there recently and what is the best cabana (not beach bed or bungalow) to get so we are waterfront? 2) When will the pier be available and will anything else new be available when we go in early April?
  18. We are hoping to receive an email for the new RoyalUp program, however, we never get emails (except for invoices) from Royal. I have called and confirmed we are signed up to receive Marketing materials and we only have one email on file. Has anyone ever had this problem - if so, how does it get fixed? The same goes with casino offers from Royal.
  19. As always, you are a wealth of knowledge! We did upgrade both of our free cruises this year. One we upgraded interior to balcony for very little money and the other was an upgrade from interior to the Aqua Theater Suite. I wish we could use the certificates that we get but I only have so much vacation time!
  20. That is what I was worried about - not being able to enjoy our balcony. We usually leave out of Baltimore or NJ so we always get to enjoy the balcony (we typically go in April and September). Saying that, I will definitely try one of the Oasis class ships again - they are beautiful and for how large they are, didn't seem crowded.
  21. We never received the email notifying us of our status or what the specific restrictions were on booking our "free" cruise. We have already done 2 free cruises this year and with the new qualifying period ending in March, we will be eligible for 2 more (1 for each of us). Saying that, what are the restrictions regarding length of cruise, certain blackout dates, etc?
  22. We are back from our Eastern Caribbean cruise on Allure in a 1 bedroom Aqua Theater Suite on Deck 11 and we LOVED it!! Allure is a spectacular ship and we loved watching all of the aqua shows from our balcony! The only thing we were disappointed in was it was too hot most days to enjoy the balcony because of the humidity. We are planning our fall cruise for next year and am wondering if it is less humid sailing from Florida if we sail in late October/early November? We would prefer Spring but the airfare is too high to justify going that time of year. This is one of the water shows from our balcony!
  23. Thanks all - I was hoping they would at least still give us some sort of casino discount.
  24. We are prime members and wondering whether you can book your free cruise as a 9 night cruise or is it for shorter cruises? We never received the emails from Royal so I apologize if this is an obvious answer! If they don't let you, can you get some sort of casino discount?
