  1. Thanks, that will make her feel better, the other couple that liked the experience were younger than us, so maybe that is the appeal...
  2. The salt tasting was amazing, I can't remember which one was my favorite, but I loved one of them. We didn't get a chance to go but cruise mates of our went to Wonderland on Harmony and said it was one of the best meals and experiences they had ever had. We didn't go because my wife was a little worried about the advertised "Imaginitive cuisine" that Wonderland might serve.
  3. PRC, I agree, at worst a bad cruise is still better to being land locked on any day. I read these bad reviews from people and I'm wondering sometimes what their expectations were, were they expecting the Ritz and felt like they got the Holiday Inn? I don't know, there is just to much information out on the web right now that you can read and review, if you manage your expectations and know what you want going in I don't see how a cruise can be a bad thing. On my last cruise, Harmony-Mediterranean-2016, Our cabin flooded on the last day of the cruise, which my wife and i were really looking forward to because it was a sea day, the cruise had been a full itinerary, we hit a port on every day, we woke to water squishing between our toes when we walked on the carpet, RC did everything in their power to make everything all right, they eventually moved us to a different suit and compensated us for our trouble, but our expectations for the day, were to lay by the pool and read a good book, so we didn't let a little water in our room ruin that, we still had a great day.
  4. Fmanke, I agree, good companionship is a must, unfortunately our best friends don't like to cruise, the wife went on a Carnival cruise on one of the smaller ships a long time ago and was sick the whole time, I've told her that the newer bigger ships you hardly feel moving at all, but I still cannot convince her to go on a cruise. On 3 of our last 4 cruises we elected to go on the late dinner seating and role the dice that we would get good table mates, that only happened on one of the 4, the other 3 cruises we were stuck with very rude and inconsiderate people, we ended up not going to the MDR and eating in the specialty restaurants, I know I could have asked to be moved but I was just lazy and didn't worry about it. Fortunately, last year we meet 2 different couples through a roll call from a different cruise web site (I've seen it referenced as the dark side), we linked our reservations and were able to sit together at dinner and we went on most of our excursions together. This year we selected MTD and will just ask for a table for 2, as I mentioned above we have the 3 night dinning package for the rest, so we should be good to go. My wife and I have been married for 37 years, so it's like going to dinner with my best friend.
  5. I sort of did the same thing last year, I wanted to go on the Harmony, I couldn't get on her inaugural cruise but I was on her 4th cruise out of Barcelona, so far out of my 12 cruises that Mediterranean cruise on Harmony last year ranks as my best, Harmony is a beautiful ship and definitely had plenty of things to do and see, I', sure Symphony will be the same.
  6. Forgot to add we have MTD the reminder of the dinners. We are cruising Liberty OTS out of Galveston.
  7. I've eaten at all three of those restaurants on different ships, I don't think you will be disappointed. I booked our dinning this week, chose the 3 night dinning package, will probably pick Sabor or Chops on the first night, we leave in 29 days, so I'm starting to get excited. Starting to set little thing aside, so we don't forget them.
  8. Thanks, CowboyMedic and WAAAYTOOO, it's very hard to get my Wife to miss school, but it helps every once in awhile when we can get an extra day here or there, to bet the rush of everyone else trying to go on vacation at the same time. I have 4 Grandson's, 3 of which play sports and they don't understand when Grandpa is not there, so that makes scheduling a cruise even more challenging.
  9. I'm totally jealous, I had one of the 2 bedroom Aqua theater suites booked for this November, I had room 9730 booked on the November 11th cruise, really looking forward to the Royal Genie, but had to cancel, our Son and his wife are expecting in July and the baby would not be old enough to cruise, RC has a 6 month old limitation on babies, for good reason I'm sure, so no body wanted to leave anyone at home (His older sister), so we decided to move the cruise to another date, but Harmony dates and family dates didn't match up with the availability of the 2 bedroom Aqua suites, so we ended up booking other dates and ship out of San Juan for 2018. Those two bedroom suites go fast... Thanks for the great review.
  10. Hello everyone, my name is John and my wife's name is Jaye, we have been Royal fans since 2000, tried NCL before that and thought I wanted something better, stepped away once because I wanted to do the Panama Canal and Royal didn't do one (Did Disney once because my daughter paid for it) . I stopped cruising between 2006 and 2012 while I got the kids out of college and married away. I live close to Tulsa, OK, I can't say land locked because theoretically there is a way to get from Tulsa to the Mississippi river and then to the Gulf. I have been reading and using Royal Caribbean Blog since I started cruising again in 2012, I just never used the forums, like the poster above I had been using Cruise Critic. I joined yesterday and have been trying to add details to anything that I might know a little about. I'm a Diamond member working my way to Diamond+. I'm able to get in one cruise a year with the limited amount of time off my wife gets, she works in Education. Look forward to using this forum.
  11. If I remember correctly each, Group/family/Cruise reservation, has to give their approval to be linked to the others, I did this last year on a Mediterranean cruise, I called RC and told them I needed linked to X-Reservation number, then that person had to call RC and say they wanted to be linked to my reservation number, once that was done I could see the linked cruises on "My cruises"Page. So I would say the TA could do it for those three people, the RC direct will have to call, and the Interline person will have to do their own, but everyone will have to provide everyone else their reservation ID. I don't think 1 TA could do it for everyone, because all of the reservations would have to be assigned to the 1 TA for them to make changes. This is only what I experienced last year and I've only done it once, so someone with more experieince might provide a better answer.
  12. I heard from a coworker that just cruised in March that Next Cruise rules had changed and I also read the articles, if you book a grand suite or better the deposits go up and you lose the deposits if you cancel. I have a cruise booked in 2018 already I can do 2019 on it. I just re-booked a couple of weeks ago a cruise I had on Harmony to 2018 and didn't have any penalties but I had originally booked this as a next cruise in 2016, so before all of the rule changes. Thanks.
  13. So, if I read everything correctly (I've read all 6 pages of post), I was planning on booking a "Next Cruise" on board ship this summer when I cruise out of Galveston, I'm looking to book something in June of 2019, so I will really need to wait until March/April of 2018 to book June of 2019? I can probably book something earlier and simply change the date when the newer itineraries come available? I'm wanting to get all of the available perks of booking while on ship.
  14. I would like to see RC cruise the Mexican Riviera out of LA or San Diego, now it's mostly Carnival or Princess.
