This might have been covered in another post (though I doubt it). Was on Symphony…Seas back in April and was in one of the public restrooms and came across a very odd sign above the stalls. I decided to see if this was a one off thing or not, so I had some free time and went all around the ship snapping pics of the various pieces of “art” – I might have missed a few, though. I was also on Enchantment…Seas a few weeks ago, but they didn’t have this “feature.” Was wondering if anyone has noticed this or if they’re on any other ships? Wife and I will be on Oasis…Seas in about 6 weeks, so maybe more/others there? And, sorry ladies, my wife confirmed that these do not appear in the ladies restrooms. See what you’re missing out on?

Heard Oscar while at Cococay, a woman fell off the pier, the current swept her to the other side of the pier. A crew member and passenger jumped in for the rescue. Alpha was on our last cruise at about 7am.....I imagine it was somoene who could not wake their loved one. The hearse arrived at the pier when it was or disembarkation day. Very sad. I was also on another ship where they had Alpha and a person was medivacced off the ship via Coast Guard and Naval helicopters in the pouring rain, I heard that person lived.

On our last cruse to Alaska on the Radiance of the Seas...You could not find a cup of coffee anywhere on the ship before 0600 except from room service. We are early risers and enjoy drinking coffee and watching the sunrise. We ordered coffee the first day from room service after we couldn't find any. The guy who delivered it asked if we would like our coffee at the same time everyday...We said yes we would love that. He delivered it every mourning at 0500 and we didn't have to request it. We tipped him very well every morning!

Oasis- MY MIL and hubby had a casino comp in an interior cabin deck 8....it was TINY. No couch to sit on, not even a soft chair, just a desk chair Hubby was lucky I was in a comp in a balcony so MIL had that small room for herself. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Central Park. I've never had a problem finding a chair and people watching. The walking track-on Deck 5. So you are not jogging/walking in the hot sun. It has chairs at the aft you can sit and watch the ship's wake. Shows: Frozen in Time-Fantastic, Cats-you either will love it or hate it-I lliked it, Aqua Show-OUT OF THIS WORLD Food: Playmakers-fine, Portside BBQ-really good Solarium-16+ very nice and has a second level with couches Windjammer-small, no omelet station....you need to beg someone or go to the Solarium or MDR for an omelette Blaze Comedy club 18+-reservation needed=-nice atmospher if you've ever been to the old style comedy clubs you'll appreciate it Vitality Spa (GYM) =has protein shakes/smoothies Rising Tide Bar Music Hall-upstairs has a pool table. Nice place to hang out if you want to be away from people during the day Card Room-what a view! Main Dining Room-3 levels that are "connected" by a Central opening. Central Park cafe-not many are aware of it. Has the infamous roast beef sandwhich, "finger sandwhiches" eh, salad bar, dessertcase and coffee. You can get some sort of bagged potato chip from behind the counter (you must know to ask) I'm not big on pools so I cannot address those Why I like this ship: Central Park, Blaze Comedy and the shows, Solarium, Deck 5 walking track, Vitality fitness center and protein shakes What I dislike: Windjammer Anthem- Interior cabin has a virtual balcony (or ensure it does) what a difference it makes!! OV-just be careful if you book all the way forward-you will be walking all the way to the back of the ship for the windjammer and MDR. It's a LONG walk, especialy when you forget something and have to go back...I'm sure the same can be said for Oasis but I didn't make that mistake on Oasis! Northstar-wow!! Two70-I can honestly say, I don't find it to be as great as others say. Very limited seating. Sightline to the show from the back sucks (yet makes it easy to walk out when you discover you do not like the show) Shows: Spectre CAberet-very differnt-1st time I left in 10 minutes, 2nd time I swore I would sit thhrough it and I was more intersted in watching people leave-(I had the bad sight line in the back of the room), The Gift-I liked it, We will Rock You-AWESOME but long!! Windjammer-is larger-has omelet stations Music Hall-feels larger. There is a pool table upstairs here as well. Main Dining Room, is 4 seperate dining rooms Cafe 270-not many people know about it. It has the infamous roast beef sandwhich, some decent selections of "finger sandwhiches", and a salad bar as well as a desert case and coffee. Bagged Chips are available behind the salad bar, you have to know to ask. Why I like this ship: nooks and crannies you can sit in, shows (minus Spectre), Solarium and while I did not get into the specialty dining Jamie's Italian I felt was better than Giovanni's on Oasis-Windjammer has omelets What I dislike: it feels so much longer than Oasis, making walks from Two70 to the back of the ship feel like it will never end. There is so much more on these 2 ships too!

I have/had the same with my room steward on Nav. She didn't tell me her name, I saw it on the card left in room. She hasn't chatted at all other than a hi, when I say it. I asked for ice the first day......it's day 5 and never got a bucket. I saw the envelope when I returned after lunch. I am going to still tip not because I am in the same room for next sailing but because I know the other rooms have kept her insanely busy. I happen to past by the balcony next to me and my God!! How can people make such a mess, I couldn't believe it. I have to remember I'm not their only cabin. I know my steward is possibly new or overwhelmed with work.

This. Same thing here in Orlando. Ignore the forecast unless there's a hurricane coming. There's a roughly 50-80% chance of rain pretty much every afternoon for months in Florida. It will likely rain somewhere for some amount of time at some level of intensity... but there's no way to forecast what will happen exactly when or where. My wife works 5 miles from our house and often texts me that it's pouring there while it's sunny here.

You never know what the weather will be like the day you sail. If it rains you should still have a good time, if it doesn't rain, you will have an even better time.

Not yet. We only just got Diamond status officially last week I do know Disney tends to be more expensive but as a Disney, Marvel and Star Wars fan there is quite a bit that attracts my attention.

So many examples, but the most recent was that my husband had taken his tux to be altered before we left and somehow his tux shirt did not get back into the suit bag. So there we were recently onboard with cummerbund, bowtie, shiny shoes and jewelry, but NO white tux shirt. Out of desperation I asked the concierges if they still have shirts onboard from when they rented them out while knowing that my chance was about .00032343% of that happening. It turns out that she knew the tailor on the ship and called him. Within 15 minutes he met us in our cabin, measured my husband for a shirt and left. Within 15 additional minutes he returned with a tux shirt that fit my husband freshly pressed and ready to wear. There are often many who go above and beyond - the other concierge made sure to leave her phone with me whenever she could so I could use her hot spot when we were on the ship while in port because the wifi was completely dead and we really needed to reach family and the pet sitter on occasion. There’s some unfriendly staff around on ships at times. but there are tons of super kind and helpful staff on the ships in my experience. We try to remember them in extra ways as best we can.

I did bad in Disney trivia. The pool deck proved too much, my virgin eyes/ears couldn't handle the looseness. I was reading on the sun deck and heard the most inappropriate things. Some guys discussing whether a child in a two-piece bathing suit was old enough. There was also a lady sunbathing with her straps off. Two guys purposely tripped her chair so she would rise up. I decided to head to the diamond lounge and chat with Francisco while I waited for my dinner reservation. He told me of his career goal to become a Genie and I think he should be a wonderful fit. I plan to talk him up in my post survey. I am glad I don't have to pack. I truly wonder how the next sailing will be, since it's a weekday one. This one was a flustercluck, I have seen crew cleaning vomit more than once in the hallway when I take the stairs. I haven't got much sleep, so I plan to eat dinner and head to bed earlier than usual.

I recently added this sailing as a casino comp. Since it’s between two other major trips for us and close to each other those I may end up doing this one by myself. Hopefully they’ll be lots of friendly people onboard!

Is anyone else going on the 4 night trade event cruise November 9-13th from Galveston to Costa Maya? The first paid cruise is a 7 nighter leaving on November 13th. We received an invite for the 4 night event a couple weeks ago. Obviously, we said yes, but have never been on one of the trade events before and was just curious. We are supposed to get our cabin assignment by the end of September, so even thought we don't yet know what kind or where our cabin is, it should be a fun event regardless. Cheers! Tim

This thread kinds of reminds me when I bought my 2nd house. The day after it closed I went shopping and couldn't use my debit card (something along the lines unable to process). Coming home I swung by the back machine and tried it, got an insufficient funds error. Got home and checked on web banking, somehow instead of putting the price of my new home against the mortgage I just took out they put it against my chequing account. That was one big overdraft

We just got off Freedom last Monday and nobody (I repeat nobody) I ran across even mentioned Covid. The terminal employees do a half assed check when you are on the way in and then once you are onboard it’s literally business as usual from what I can recall of pre pandemic cruising. The crew members still wear masks but there are literally no more protocols. It’s actually a wonderful thing.

I have what I consider a high credit limit. And it for sure isn't anywhere close to 100k

My suggestion would be to not book ocean view since the cabins are located very low to the waterline and if waves occur just looking out the window can be tough! If balcony is not an option then book an interior on maybe deck 7 or 8 or higher and close to midship. Personally the higher up my room is the better for me and I do always book a balcony. When I was on Brilliance in January 4 1/2yrs ago I took a walk through deck 4 which had ocean view rooms and seeing the water level and wave action completely made my mind up to never book a low deck and always have fresh air available by way of balcony!

They are at Chill Island. Not so sure about the bay area. I've noticed jelly fish when the waters get warmer-it's likely why you didn't see them in May.Here in the Northeast there are typically more jellyfish the closer we get to August A friend was stung in Europe and the lifeguard told her to rub sand into it. She said it helped. She also had some benadryl she put on it and she said it was better. The lifeguard told her urine on it is a myth.

Having sailed on Oasis a couple of times this past year here is some advice, take it or leave it. Check the weather for your sailing and book Aqua80 for as early in the sailing as you can. We boarded "late" (I'm used to being in the first group but had to move my daughter into college) this last time and the 8:15 show on the first night Aqua 80 was booked. So I booked us for the 10:30. Luck was on our side. It rained and cancelled the 8:15 (rescheduled to another day) and we were able to see our show. Weahter and a hydraulic lift issue caused cancellations too. On previous sailings it was Covid that killed the show, and one other time it was the change of the staffing of the show that killed it. Same for the Blaze, I like to book it "to ensure I see it" and if I really like it I will go standby on another day. Aqua80 has standby---the line to the left as you face the stage, and the Blaze also has standby-the line forms to the left against the wall as you face the entrance. Arrive early for Aqua-the line gets long. Front rows are the "wet zone" and towels are provided. The back rows you will not be able to see some of the aerial show and divers from the top. The "primo seating" for Pinnacle, Diamond +, Suite guests and the Key (not sure if Diamond too) is in the center/center section. If you can't get into that sit in the rows behind it. The aerialist "almost come into that section" for some portions of the show. I'm torn where to sit the next time I watch Aqua, i might go to the Rock Wall area and view it from a different vantage point. If you are fortunate to be in an Aqua Suite I hear you can view the sychronized swimmers connect to the airsource under water-that would be cool to see! The Blaze-if you arrive late or enter standby the area behind the bar is very difficult to hear. The bartenders are shaking their drinks and the speakers don't really reach that area. Lots of poles in that venue. Personally I liked sitting at the front of the bar- or anywhere within the center view of the stage-though some chairs are more comfy for my bad back than others. Hopefully you enjoy the venues as much as I did.

One thing I’ve learned after my 45 years in South Florida is to NEVER trust the weather forecast. Even if it “rains” it’s not the same kind of rain systems you see in the mid west or other parts of the country where its just sheet rains all day long. Most of the time the sun is out 15 minutes later. Yes, the freedom will have a sail away party and do not base your decisions off of the forecast.

My first cruise was a Carnival...went with a group...switched rooms with someone who claimed claustrophobia and went to the bottom of the ship with bunk beds. NEVER again...at least a balcony or I don't go. LOL

I got stung on my ankle there the 3rd week of July this year. This is the first time ever getting stung. I rubbed sand on it and the lifeguard had vinegar to spray on it and it stopped stinging after about 30 mins. The lifeguard told me that there were lots of baby jellyfish....

I believe it was just not feasible to get all shows on every ship up and running right away for the restart - every show needs rehearsal space/time, choreographers, tech staff, etc. Wonder has 3 shows going in the Royal Theater. Quantum is rehearsing (or is in the process of adding) their 2nd main theater show back in. I don't know about all of the other ships - I would guess that the Entertainment group's goal is to get back to more shows across the board, but it's a process.

As was mentioned earlier, I didn't see any evidence that dress code is enforced on either line. However, my wife always comments that she feels underdressed on Celebrity but not on Royal. We're pretty casual cruisers. I usually wear a button down shirt and nice jeans or Dockers to dinner. If it is formal night, I'll throw on a tie, but no jacket.

Disney is more expensive, but if you are a Disney fan (Marvel, Star Wars, ETC) I would say it does offer value for money in that case. I was lucky to do Disney twice , both Wonder and Magic. I would definitely not hesitate to sail them again if I can afford it.

I am loyal to cruising, not any particular line. For me, the itinerary is always most important, and then sometimes, what other people I may be cruising with, or if it is just my husband and me. Yes, I agree RC is chock-full of super-fun activities and really great for families. Husband always attempts the rock-climbing wall. I have been cruising for almost five decades now, have been on ten different cruise lines, and several cruise lines I went on no longer exist (For example, American Hawaii Cruises--very historic and connected with Princess Grace of Monaco). I do not care about my status levels too much as the perks never outweigh the destination and the exploration. (Also, I am not a big alcohol drinker, I do not gamble, I do not wear those little status pins, and I never do laundry on the ships.) I do think other similar big cruise lines like Celebrity, Princess, Holland America and Cunard are a bit more sophisticated and elegant than RC. They also offer a bit more complex itineraries. I find NCL and Carnival more budget-oriented but still fun, especially if I just want a quick and cheap getaway. I do not want to go on adults-only cruises because I went on my first cruise as a child, and it is a wonderful lasting memory (Chandris Cruises Venice to Odessa with many, many great stops (Greece, Turkey, etc.!). I was probably too young to fully appreciate the cruising experience, but now I go every chance I get! I think it is fine to be loyal, but do not limit yourself to not "testing the waters" of other cruise lines, either. Enjoy your next cruise, which ever line it may be!

I have gone snorkeling multiple times in the Caribbean and the Pacific, and my husband, who is scuba certified, has been deep in the water in many, many places, Atlantic, Pacific, Caribbean, etc. I never saw sharks come near me except when I was in a Mexican jungle preserve, AND at CocoCay when I was floating in the water. I certainly jumped out of the water and went back on the beach, and became a bit wary after that. It is not completely clear what attracts them--warm waters, rainfall, sound, movement, color, etc. Let me say that in the water the sharks' speed can be fantastic--they can turn and shift faster than one can blink an eye, and go from very shallow and very deep in an instant. I do not know how one completely avoids aquatic life--it is a natural part of the water. However, I do think there are probably some places that are safer to snorkel than others, and it is up to the local boat captains to be aware of potential risks or sightings. We tourists should try not to stray off too far alone while in the water, also. However, in no way, shape, or form can a cruise ship line have any responsibility for a shark attack while a person is snorkeling--Nature is always unpredictable. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Consider looking at YouTube tours of both before you decide. (If you haven't already) there are several good 1 hour tours to watch. They really sell it for me. And my money would be on Oasis. There is just so much more places to see. Not just young people activities like zip lines etc. But more restaurants and lounges music etc for 50 plus folk like us.

We did Liberty OTS this past Halloween and there were many that dressed up plus they had a "gathering" in the Star Lounge and prizes for the best costume. I was the one who roamed the ship all day in a big T-Rex mask with drinking straw (had to have my 5 D+ drinks) and everyone had a blast. Also did the Christmas cruise last year where I did my best impression of the Elf on the Shelf (complete with costume) and posed all over the ship. Brought many a smile and laugh and we all had a blast.

My attendant has done them every night after the first, so 3 in a row. She didn't break then down once I moved to the chair.

Just got off the Liberty....interesting thing happened...no tip envelopes in my JS. We did the daily, as we usually do, but in the past we have tipped additionally according to service rendered. For the first time ever we didn't give any additional to our steward. He was late on day one and was virtually a no show throughout although he did keep the room clean. Other than his name we learned nothing about him nor did he show any interest in us. Our waiters in the MDR were great, got extra, as did waiters and bartenders.

I love the towel animals! And love that Royal committed to continuing delivering them when NCL decided to stop a while back. In an article I read about Royal continuing them they said they deliver them every other night, but the stateroom attendants have discretion to provide them more frequently based on request or "guest enjoyment", so your thank you note likely played into getting them every night. Sadly, my last cruise was a 3 night, so I only got one towel animal, but it was a super cute elephant - and was the highlight of my album when sharing with friends and family. I was already thinking about bringing along things to leave notes for some of the amazing staff (including appreciation for the towel animals that may be left), probably will be a sure thing after hearing of your enjoyment from it.

Having been on both, I would choose Anthem. I like the layout, love 270, and the Solarium. We are not interested in all the stuff geared towards the younger crowd that Oasis offers. That being said, will I never sail Oasis class? No, if the price, timing and itinerary are right I will choose it. But not going to be my first choice ordinarily. JMHO,YMMV

We have been on both Anthem and Oasis out of Bayonne. Personally, I much prefer Anthem. I think there was a similar amount of activities to do, I just really enjoy the Quantum class ship more than the Oasis class. Why? Oasis is geared so that everything faces to the inside - I reminds me of being inside a mall. We were on Oasis in Oct 2021 and this may have been due to Covid, but there is virtually no where to sit and just relax. There are a few (very few) spots through Central Park and I don't recall there being anywhere on the Boardwalk except for the seating for Johnny Rockets or Playmakers. Sometimes it is just nice to sit down w/ your cup of coffee, cocktail, whatever and watch the world go by - there just really isn't anywhere to do it on Oasis. If you do book Oasis, do yourself a favor and study deck 6 - It dead ends and about the 3rd time you have to make your way back to an elevator or stairs and go up or down one floor to get to where you need to go it gets a little frustrating. I also found I really missed there not being a 270 on Oasis. YMMV!

Reykjavik Iceland – Blue Lagoon I’ve been debating on how much to tell you about this trip. The first part of this trip it’s not very pleasant but I thought about it and you’re here to hear about my experiences so I’m going to let you know about the bad part as well as the good part. Feel free to skip the bad part. The bad part... One of the people from our Facebook group arranged a trip to the blue lagoon for everybody. We had 100 people traveling on two 57 passenger busses. When we got to the parking lot I was assigned the lead on bus 1 and she took bus 2. After we got everyone loaded, she was on bus 1 double checking our lists and someone from bus 2 came over and told us there was a medical emergency. I went to bus 2 to find out there was a man having a heart attack. I got the bus drivers to call for an ambulance and I went back to bus 1 to ask for a doctor or nurse. Right away 2 nurses jumped up and went to help. I was busy trying to contact the ship to let them know of the issue. When I want back to bus 1 I had some people on the front of the bus asking why we were not leaving. I told them we had a medical emergency, and they did not care. I was told, “This is my vacation, and it should not be affected by someone else problems. That is the other bus and not ours.”. I told her it did affect our bus because people on our bus was trying to save a life. We got everyone off the bus 2 that we could, and the ambulance showed up. I informed the ambulance crew what was going on and they went to work. At that point I got the husbands off my bus to stay with their wives and loaded my bus with everyone I could fit. At that point we left for the Blue Lagoon. One note: When we got to the Blue Lagoon the people had realized what they had done and apologized. Just remember we are all the same big family. Now the good part… On our bus was a guide to help us with the Blue Lagoon. He contacted the Blue Lagoon and let them know of our issues. They were great and told us we would get the full two hours there no matter when we showed up. When we got there, it was a large lava field. They have cut out pathways and the lagoon in the lava field. We had to go upstairs and take a shower with no cloths on. It was funny to see people in their 50’s and 60’s waiting for the private showers when there were ones without doors open. I jumped in the one that was open and took my shower. Then you put on your bathing suit, go downstairs, and jump in the lagoon. The water was blue and has a fog on top from the light rain hitting the hot water. It was fantastic. After getting our free drink (not much selection) we found our way over to the far end of the pool to get our face mask. It was a white paste that you put on your face and neck to open and clean all the pores. After about one hour in the pool everyone was looking at the clock and trying to figure out how long they could stay and still make the bus. I stayed as long as I could; 15 minutes to get out, shower, get dressed and get to the bus. I know I was pushing it but I was really enjoying the experience. If you ever find you way to Iceland, make sure you do the Blue Lagoon. If it is raining or snowing don’t worry. It just makes it a better experience.

The port area for Ensenada is ugly and uninviting. I decided to get off and see whats doing and nothing was, so I got back on. A bunch of seals were lazing about around the port making tons of noise. I was shocked at how few people actually got off. The decks and such were still crowded. I really want to know, why is it when there are more than 5 people in a hot tub the water gets all milky???? That looks so unclean. I spent an hour in the solarium on a partially wet daybed. Fun fact: they were all wet because people went straight from the water to chairs and such. This was also a problem in the WJ as I passed a sign asking people to dry off or bring a towel if they are wet. My lunch was, for the 4th day, El Loco Fresh. I did a few laps around deck 4, then spent the rest if the day reading in various places. Since dinner was after 8, I decided to see tonight's product show. It was Showgirls: the past, present and future. I went in with low expectations and came out a fan. It was actually really good, so far my favorite original on any non-Oasis class ship. The only negative for me was one of four singers voice. She was too Broadway to sing the popular songs. Her soprano was too high and didn't blend with the other woman's and 2 men. The costumes were great and the performers looked like they were having fun. Tonight was my second time dining in the MDR. The service was good; it's always a little extra when you dine solo. I had the short beef rib. It doesn't compare to the one in Wonderland or 150 CP. It wasn't bad just really fatty. I had a peach margarita with dinner and it was really good. Dessert was a delicious lemon tart. The quality of food in the MDR is good, nothing like Indy and Mariner in Jan. I was tired so I went to my room after dinner. One thing that is odd is my room steward. I asked for ice on the first night and have yet to receive a bucket. I got cookies the first day, they were stale, and they weren't removed.I had taken the cloche off to let her know and she put it back on. In fact I brought back my dessert from Chops two nights ago and it was still here. She placed it on top of the cookies as if she thought I wanted to save them. I finally took to the WJ this morning to be discarded. She makes cute towel animals though.

Day 6 photos I’ve included photos of Naples from the ship, the swim diaper area, the separation between the swim diaper area and potty-trained area, a view of the closest casitas from Splashaway Bay, and the laser tag set up in Studio B. Non-participants can sit inside to watch the laser tag sessions, although you can’t see much.

Quoting myself from my post-Oasis review here: Every night for dessert, my youngest wanted chocolate chip cookies for dessert. I don’t know what it was about those cookies (I mean, they WERE tasty!), but he was OBSESSED with them. So dinner comes and goes, and right near the end of our entree, a table of 12 comes in without reservations. It was fairly slow, so of course they were seated, but our server Amilia and another server (Alma, who we also had several times throughout the week) were assigned to cover the unexpected large party. Amilia came over to take our dessert order, and of course my youngest orders cookies. A few minutes later, she comes back to tell us that they’re out of cookies in CK, but not to worry, she called down the MDR galley and they’re going to send up some fresh ones. About ten minutes pass, and no desserts, and Amilia and Alma are really hustling to cover the large party plus their other tables. Fifteen minutes now, and Amilia comes flying out of the back, all of our desserts in hand. She then proceeds to APOLOGIZE to us for the wait, no one from the MDR ever showed up, so she had Alma cover the large party on her own for a few minutes and ran down there herself to get ONE ORDER OF COOKIES FOR A SEVEN YEAR OLD. We apologized to her and told her she didn’t have to do that, we could have just run to the Windjammer or the MDR or even ordered them to the cabin from room service! Without batting an eye, she just matter of factly stated, “There’s no way I was going to let him leave on his last night without his cookies.” And THAT ladies in gentlemen is why two chocolate chip cookies perfectly encapsulate why this cruise impressed me so much. Disappointing him even in a minor way simply was not an option for them.

I don't know who told my daughter this but she just told my son this. "Did you know on a cruise if you don't use good manners your food isn't free?" Hahaha definitely going to run with that when we go on our first cruise next summer!

I consider one of the types of biggest cruise mistakes to avoid is any action that results in you having a stay in the special Royal Caribbean accommodation called the Brig.
