  2. Don't know that this level of detail is made public. I started to make final payment a few months ago once I saw light in the tunnel. So far I haven't regretted that choice. Therefore I can state with confidence it is not 0%.

  3. Worth noting, too, is the Crown & Anchor Double Points offer booking window currently ends on June 30, 2021, for all sailings departing on or before September 30, 2022.

How do you fire a TA?

It's a job. It's hard work. Don't get me wrong, there are fun things about it! But especially this year it's been incredibly difficult. Not all will survive. I still have days where I wonder if it's worth it and how long I can keep it up. Here's to better days ahead!

  5. Bermuda is still our favorite island. Tyna says she loves it more than when she went to Hawaii. We've been there 3 times so far, there are more plans on the horizon. Plus, one of these days, I'm going to go into work sportin those Bermuda Shorts with Tie and a sport coat. If they can do it, I can do it. It's an image that you'll never forget. The photo attached is from 2016 when we went there for the first time on Grandeur. He was there greeting passengers as they were getting off the ship. I could work that look here..... just not in January.

  6. I love to watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee on the pool deck on sea days. I once watched a lady place twenty towels out on twenty prime pool location chairs and leave...I believe she helped herself to the towels at the towel station as they we still neatly flooded. Somehow the towels got removed by someone getting more coffee. The lady and her TWO friends returned just after 11 am. They made three laps around the area looking confused as to where her towels were...She couldn't figure out why people were sitting in her chairs. Sure wished I world of brought the GoPro with me that morning.

  7. You could book it now and then work on convincing her. If you ultimately fail, the booking is eligible for the Cruise With Confidence program. ? Plus you know the general rule about asking forgiveness being easier than getting permission...

  9. Right. If it were not for the fact that influenza has essentially disappeared, not for the fact that the world experienced COVID, we'd be reporting on minor outbreaks of influenza in Oregon ..... that is an important distinction re SARS2. REGIONAL OUTBREAKS. Look at reports by state. Plenty are reporting no new cases or only limited numbers and within states the new cases are by counties. IOW .... REGIONAL. In FL, its the tri-county S. FL region with the most cases and even then, Broward, home of PEV and Miami, home of POM, the 7w rolling average decline in new cases, hospitalizations and deaths, even with vaccine rates dropping, is obvious. Let's get back to work, socializing and cruising. The MSM has got to stop reporting national stats

  10. Hey all! Clearly the Roll Call sub-forum is something that had a lot of pent-up demand! In the interests of making it easy to search for a particular roll call and add new ones into the forum with a consistent format, please be sure to follow these guidelines: First, always search for your sailing to see if a Roll Call was already created Easiest way to search is use the first word in the ship's name, the word AND, and the date enclosed in quotes (e.g., Vision AND "Aug 14, 2021"); this should properly limit the search and not give a lot of false matches on just the ship or date Don't worry about searching on the full ship name since every ship ends with "of the Seas" If you don't find it through search, try sorting the forum by title (see later posts in this thread for screen shots); it's possible your sailing is there but the entry was created with a different style subject line. If you don't find your sailing in the search results or after sorting, go ahead and create a new topic. Please try to use the following format so it's easily found through search: Ship Name a hyphen Departure date using the format month name (3-letter), followed by the day, then the year; this should help avoid confusion for members from countries where an all-digit date usually puts the day before the month. Examples: Aug 14, 2021 Jun 12, 2021 Jul 22, 2022 An optional itinerary name / description in parentheses This should let anyone easily find any sailing here, without having to guess what date format got used or which ship it's on. Examples: Adventure of the Seas - Jun 12, 2021 Vision of the Seas - Aug 14, 2021 (Bermuda and Perfect Day) Radiance of the Seas - Jul 22, 2022 (Alaska Southbound) Forum moderators / @Matt, if possible can you update the existing topics that include "ROLL CALL" or use a different date format so they're consistent? I figure better to ask this now while we still have a relatively limited number of sailings posted. ?

  12. I had a sore arm for 2 days after Moderna #1. It went away after that so I figured that was it. Nope, suddenly on days 8-9 I had swollen, tender lymph nodes in my left armpit (same side as the shot). No actual noticeable lump but even my baggiest T-shirt was surprisingly tight around that shoulder. Gone just as suddenly on day 10. Shot number 2 on Wednesday!

  13. Late to the party on this thread but my reaction to Moderna #1 was bizarre. Got #1 mid afternoon and by evening my arm was sore, no biggie. The next day, my arm was still sore and I had slight muscle aches in the lower half of my body. Still no biggie, was able to go about my regular daily activities. By Day 3 post shot, perfectly back to normal. Then Day 7 post shot, things got weird. Woke up that morning with my arm hurting again. Thought it was strange but still went about my day. By about 1pm that day, things started crashing for me, headache, chills, major pain all over (like I got hit by a truck), and the worst part was a large egg size lump (hard as a rock) was starting to form on my arm right below the injection site. At this point I was a bit alarmed. Turns out a small percentage of those who get Moderna get a delayed response like what I experienced along with "Moderna arm" (google it, not fake news lol). Went to bed early that night. By Day 8, the chills and aches were passing but the lump on my arm doubled in diameter and turned bright red. By Day 10, the lump started itching but fading. By Day 14 post shot, all was back to normal. Not sure what will happen with Moderna #2, but bring it on! I need to cruise. Hubby, my parents, and sister all got Pfizer. Zero reaction other than a sore arm....

  15. My wife and I had our first visit to Bermuda in 2018 and fell in love with it immediately, to the point that we have taken (or at least tried to take) a cruise there every year since. This August will mark our third year year going there. @coneyraven and his wife are another couple who have been there multiple times and want to keep visiting it. And there are many more yet. Search for live blogs mentioning Bermuda and show her the photos. You should have little trouble changing her mind. ?

  18. Gov. DeSantis suspends all remaining local COVID-19 orders NO MORE local mask mandates anywhere in Florida https://www.news4jax.com/news/florida/2021/05/03/gov-desantis-suspends-all-remaining-local-covid-19-orders/ The CDC, which has encouraged Americans to get vaccinated, recommends wearing masks in indoor public spaces because “the vaccination status of other people or whether they are at increased risk for severe COVID-19 is likely unknown.” DeSantis said that sends a message that vaccines don’t work. “Because if the vaccines worked, that would be your ticket to basically live normally and make decisions for yourself. That would be the message that actually would work with people,” DeSantis said. “So I think that they’ve sent a message to say, You know what get vaccinated, but it really ain’t gonna do anything for you.”

  19. I just don't get why he is pursuing it with the cruise ships that he says he is trying to help. He has an easy out. "Cruise ships are under federal health regulations. It's the crazy CDC's fault". Instead he is going out of his way to create a confrontation. I'm not sure it's a wise use of the political capital it's going to cost him.
    2 points
  20. That requires they do sample cruises. Until we see what that really means I'll defer judgement. The CDC is trying to motivate people to vaccinate but they can't flat out make it a requirement so they are putting that onto the cruise lines. Requires vaccines and you get the easy road. Don't require vaccines and here are the speedbumps you'll encounter on the hard road. If, and this is a very big if, cruise lines are actually Florida businesses and he intends to pursue this to the point of shutting down the industry in this state that puts me at odds with the Governor. We don't need more government regulations, we need less regulation.

  21. I'd like to see the cruise lines to come back with... "Okay Governor so you are saying we are a Florida business. Cool. In that case how about millions of stimulus money like you promised the seaports?".

  27. Bermuda is our favorite island, we have done more 5-day NJ to Bermuda cruises than I'd like to admit (7 from 2007 - 2019), we even got married on the island. Depending where you're sailing from, NJ (or NYC if you do NCL) wasn't that bad at all with Explorer, Liberty & Anthem. We've had some motion before, not going to lie, but unless she is ultra sensitive or (like my wife) trouble shaking the nauseous feeling even after Dramamine, or other relief aids, you should be fine. Even if I'm wrong, I am someone on the internet you can point to and say, LOOK HUN, THIS GUY SAYS IT'S FINE ... then it's my fault and not yours ?. Edit: friendliest people on the planet, or at least from the places I've visit in my life. Ask anyone for help, they aren't shy and eager to assist. Heck, one time, friend and I pulled over with scooter looking at a map, they came over and volunteered help without us asking!

  30. Reading SB 2006... It refers to a business entity as defined in s. 768.38. SB 72 creates s. 768.38. Per s. 768.38 business entity has the same meaning as provided in s. 606.03. Now for s. 606.03... “Business entity” means any form of corporation, partnership, association, cooperative, joint venture, business trust, or sole proprietorship that conducts business in this state.

    Moderna 2nd shot...

I had #2 for Moderna on Friday (right after lunch) ---- for the remainder of the day, I was fine. My arm was a little sore, but the crazy thing was that I was incredibly thirsty later in the evening. I was downing the bottled water like crazy. Then on Saturday, I felt ok, arm was still a little sore. I ended up going outside to do some yard work up on the mountain.... ...... then it hit ...... At around 3:00 in the afternoon -- I crashed --- No Energy .... I was whipped. Tyna comes outside, takes one look at me and says, "You look like shit" -- well suffice it to say, I was beat up .... sore back, sore knees..... sore joints in general. So, I went in, took a shower, put on some sweats and a T-shirt and planted my arse on the sofa. By 5:00, I was out like a light...... woke up later in the evening, only to go upstairs to bed and crash till morning .... When Sunday rolled around..... still a sore arm, but other than that, all good

  33. Interesting ... can individual business owners still require masks be worn in their business like shoes and shirts are required?
    1 point
  34. DeSantis is walking a fine line here and like others in this thread, I wonder if he is relying on a loophole or special exemption if it comes down to the state of Florida being the hold up. He is playing big government by dictating to business owners how to run their business on one hand while complaining about the federal government overreach. Business owners already have the right to refuse customers as long as it doesn’t violate discrimination laws just like some businesses in Florida still require customers to wear masks even though the state no longer mandate it. We already have vaccine requirements in the public sector, schools come to mind that can be waived with certain exceptions. Now, what I see is a HUGE difference is companies requiring an vaccine that is not fully approved by the FDA and we still have limited data on side effects, short and long term. And is it too much to ask to have a competent CDC??!! The Johnson and Johnson vaccine debacle has added and created more vaccine hesitancy and a chorus of “I told you so” from the anti-vaccine crowd. The government needs to accept their own responsibility in vaccine hesitancy before blaming the citizenry. I am fully vaccinated and I am no means an anti-vaxxer Back to cruising. Royal is walking a fine line as well. They have to appease the CDC as well as keeping their customer base happy. I understand that as a business they have the right to determine terms for the services. However, and my bias will show now, I have fully paid for a July 17th cruise this summer and I have a 13 year old with some underlying medical considerations that even if the FDA approved vaccine for her age group, I don’t know if I would have her vaccinated right away. Royal, DeSantis and the CDC would all do well to show some common sense flexibility when creating and enforcing guidelines.

  35. Seriously though if we reach the point where the only thing keeping ships from sailing is the state of Florida the cruise lines may have a strong argument for compensation. Assuming Texas doesn't follow they could send some ships to Texas to sail.

    Refunds

Contact you credit card company and discuss options with them for a chargeback. FWIW my May and June cancellations were processed within a few weeks but if there is FCC involved it does extend the time frame since it becomes a manual process.

  39. Navigator was in Miami on Saturday. I saw one destined for Port Everglades, Mariner I think. I suspect they are getting crew. Crew work visas don't allow them to stay in transit too long. They can arrive in the country through an airport on their transit visa but then the clock starts running and they have to get on a ship within a specific time window. They can't wait in a hotel for weeks for example, they'll overstay their transit visa.

How do you fire a TA?

I had a similar experience back in 2019 with a rather large online company that I had used a few times. We booked a couple of cruises while on a cruise and told them I did not want that company to manage those bookings, however they did capture the bookings and notified me upon my return home. I decided to let it go and those bookings fell cancelled in 2020. Issues started in trying to lift and shift etc and like Jupiter03 responses were rare and confusing. After months of problems, I found out that you can demand the bookings be returned to RCI and then you can work directly with them any time. According to RCI the agency can not refuse if that’s your wishes. On the positive side, after all of that, I found Michelle Cunningham at MEI and the world of travel is a different place now. Through the entire disaster of 2020/2021 cancellations, rebooks, lift & shifts, FCC’s etc she was right there any time I needed her help. She answered calls, texts and emails 7 days a week (I mean even Sundays). Once you work with a pro like her it will reinforce how important a good TA can be. I hope you get things worked out for sure so you can resume enjoying your travel plans.

  48. St. Kitts also has a dolphin excursion, which my family and I did. Was a bucket-list item for my wife, so damn the expense and full speed ahead! ? I believe all of the dolphin encounter / swim-with places are run by a single parent company / organization; there certainly doesn't seem to be any noticeable difference in pricing or packages to be found, which implies someone is coordinating that across the islands that offer it. I'm not normally one to recommend online reviews, but if you have multiple places to choose from then it might be worth it. Don't look for comments about the cost; check for reviews that mention whether the caretakers seem to genuinely care about the dolphins, whether the dolphins looked OK / in good health, etc.
