  1. Some more good news . The Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine showed successful results between 70% for people who got two full doses shots to 90% for people who got first 50% hot and then 100% dose for the second shots. This vaccine is more traditional vaccine and can be shipped in normal fridge temperature. The expected price is around 8$ comparing to 60$+ for the Moderna/Pfizer one.

    8+ day cruises are locked

Oddly, I have (I think!) just been able to check us into our 8-night Anthem sailing on 6th Feb 2021. ? ? I initially received the Been A Glitch message but clicked again and was routed through to the check-in screens.

  3. Does not require Internet to work, GPS not required too. Only Bluetooth. How it works it will handshake with other TraceTogether App/Token as close contact and stored locally. Only when you are suspected to be in contact with a Covid-19 case, our Health Ministry will provide a pass code for you to upload the handshakes data to the Ministry database for contact tracing (otherwise upload is not possible) Going on 17th Dec if nothing goes wrong

  4. Unless you specifically request that it be left as a "bed" at all times, your cabin steward will convert it back and forth each day.

  6. so we have 4 booked for 2021 later in the year.. 2 on Symphony and 2 on Harmony.. I was looking through the 2022 deployments and came across an 8 nighter on Mariner from PC going to Aruba, Curacao, the DR and Coco Kay.. Well the rates were reasonable for a Suite so I booked it for August 13th 2022..

  7. I'm starting this Live Blog with the most optimistic of intentions and utmost hope that we will be able to sail. I wonder if they actually place bets in Vegas as to when cruising will resume... The last Live Blog I wrote was from the middle of February 2020, a few short weeks before cruising was shut down due to the dreaded Covid. On that cruise we did our first Star Class on the Oasis. Since that time, quite a few life altering events have happened. I was laid off work for 2 months. My husband has been working from home since March. He works from our closet and is using an old boat swim platform as a desk. In May, we were inundated with rain (I believe 8 inches), and had 4 dams fail in our area. We were not directly impacted by this catastrophe, but people we know had houses, boats etc., swept away or their houses were under water. Every bridge below these dams was washed away. At that time, I was back to work so instead of having a 45 minute drive to work, I had an hour and a half. In the scheme of things, no big, as compared to all who had lakeside property. When our state opened back up for business, hubbie and I went out to dinner, had a few glasses of wine to celebrate being able to be social again. On the way home, we decided to stop to a small beach and watch the sun set. Apparently, I was out of practice with the whole drinking thing and my 56 year old self decided to strip down to skivvies and go swimming. We were sharing the area with another husband and wife and the husband was washing their dog in the lake. In my excitement to go swimming, I was not watching where I was walking and twisted my ankle and went down hard. There I was, writhing around in the sand in excruciating pain, when the dog raced out of the water and started humping my head. In my mind, everything was in slow motion, but hubbie quickly half carried me to the truck and home we went. Two things of note, actually three. 1) I severely strained my ankle and limped for a couple weeks 2) There was sand everywhere-in the truck-dribbled throughout the house-in the bed. 3 ) The following day I asked hubster if I was hallucinating that the dog that took a liking to my head had only three legs and he assured me that it did indeed only have three legs. Life experience #102,049, humped on the head by a 3 legged dog. How many people can claim that? I do not know how these things happen to me. It is a well known fact that I am not particularly graceful, however. Toward the end of October we caught the dreaded Covid. I can tell you I would not wish this upon my worst enemy. We both made it through without having to be put in the hospital and for that I am profoundly grateful. I am not one to wish my life away, but I will be glad when 2020 is in the rearview mirror. Back to dreaming of cruising! We are booked on the Explorer of the Seas for the end of January. We are thinking that if it is cancelled, we will just move it to another time, but still fly to Florida and hangout there on vacation. Hopefully, all this Covid business will have fallen by the wayside by then. My experience with checking in: I tried every few days since the 90 day mark to check in. I kept receiving an error that there was a glitch and to try later. Two days ago, (72 days to go) I was able to check in and can view my boarding passes. I am concerned that when I tried to book a cruise on the same ship, same date, nothing shows up on Royal's site. What is everyone else's experience with check ins, etc.? Pookie

  8. Only the Liberty at this point. It's not Star Class but it's cheaper and the balcony is twice as wide. ?

  9. https://www.bbc.com/news/health-55040635 Cost of Oxford Vaccine will be about $5 at most with 90+ 3rd world or less developed countries only paying a maximum of $3 per dose. Putting people first before profits ?

  11. @Pookie I have had a similar experience for our cruise booked for January 31. I tried to check in every few days and only a few days ago was I able to actually get it to work. I can not see the boarding passes though. I am hopeful for a cruise as this was to be our first foray into Star Class but we will see. I agree with @Lovetocruise2002, your writing makes me laugh and I loved your last blog!

  12. There are two Hilton hotels at the Fiumicino airport, (Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn). We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn the night before our cruise and had a transfer set up for the morning. It's about an hour drive.

  13. Might be enough distributed to save Q4 ‘21 but wouldn’t bet on it yet. If we see early distribution this year would feel better about it

    Harmony 4 BR Villa

It’s called the Villa suite, category VS. Only available on HM and SY. You won’t find it because they go so fast! Not exaggerating at all. With the summer 2022 release a few days ago, they were literally gone within 24hrs.

    I have an addiction..

It’s just a deposit right? ? It’s too easy to slap these deposits down. I just booked our Alaska suite for 2022 and have Odyssey in the Med and Symphony for 2021. Really want to do Mariner to Bermuda now in 2022 but with 2 high dollar cruises with land tours booked, I better stay off the mock booking thing. That’s how deposits accidentally happen. ?

  18. Did you say suite? Good choice! ? I actually looked at that sailing too. Going to wait for summer 2022 Canada/NE itineraries to be released. If nothing looks good, I might book the 8 night Mariner as well.

  19. Oooo... I really like that itinerary... I was telling my wife about that one! Our 8-night FEB 2022 Odyssey sailing is very similar (Aruba, Grand Cayman & Curacao)... I also really like the 8-night Mariner itinerary that stops at both Labadee and Coco Cay plus San Juan, St. Kitts and St. Croix!

  26. Every one has different vacation budgets, that's what is great about cruises, they can accommodate most of them. Even at $400 difference I'd want to pick my own room, at $141 (actually $170 I'm a midship guy) it's a no brainier for me. That's because I can afford it and don't like to gamble with guarantee category. If you can still afford the cruise comfortably and not have to cut out a "must do" to get the room, do it. However, if it comes at a sacrifice, think about how much time you spend in the room and if it's worth it to you.

  27. My thoughts: If you truly don’t care where your room is, let them assign you. If there is any little voice in the back of your head saying, “Yea....but”, pick your room yourself. Disclaimer: We do guaranteed rooms as long as it’s cheaper.
