    Best Solarium

Quantum class have the best Solarium. The layout, size and design gives it visual appeal with different water features and quad-ish hot tubs with awesome forward views. The pool isn't suitable for laps, it's more of a sitting pool so the only drawback is for folks looking for a deepwater pool to swim in.

  6. I left a bad one in the dust my first sailing with RCCL, the MEI (Sharla Manglass) difference was beyond compare. I found her because of our friends on this blog! Even with this terrible situation, my TA Sharla is working harder then ever before and essentially.....for free until we sail again. I received another cancellation as well as my FCC and Sharla contacted me even before I contacted her. I can't say enough about this amazing patient professional woman. When we sail and we will, when nobody knows, I am making sure to let her know her kindness to our family was gift enough and while they usually leave a cabin "gift" I want her to just wish us well, nothing more as her time and energy was just priceless! Happy transition, run for the hills (or seas) Be safe and stay healthy!

  8. I was on Brilliance fairly recently and I was very surprised at the rather pathetic kids' water play area. It is way back on the aft of the ship and has nothing else around it. I would never want to have to go there with my kids. I thought it was awful. Since you have experienced basically the whole gambit (Enchantment to Harmony) then you know the differences already. My opinion - Oasis. Every time.

  11. How cool would that be !!! We booked these 2 b/c we got casino comps. No way was I flying to Florida for a 3 or 4 night cruise, but since Dan and I both got a freebie, we each booked one of these for a 7 night-er. The drinks packages cost more than the cruises did !! We upgraded to a JS so that we would at least get double points.

  12. I also use Michelle. I had three cruises booked and she has helped me navigate each one. She is responsive to the point of even telling me she is unable to help at that moment but can the next day. Most of these changes I made in advance of any cancellation and yet she still found the time to help. She has also been a superstar navigating the ever changing interpretations from Royal. Thank you Michelle!

  13. Put a deposit down on what you want then transfer the booking to a new agency. I also use Sharla at MEI and she’s been wonderful.

Any RC Solarium without kids is a great one! ? For me, it's a close tie between the Quantum class and Oasis class ones.

A close second for me is the newly amplified Oasis solarium. I like the outdoor solarium area on this ship more so than her sisters. No deep pool either though.

So sad. I don't know when I'm going back into the office. We were told definitely not until after Labor Day. I kinda miss NYC a little. A little. Not a lot.

  24. First of all, if you are unhappy with the service you got on the original booking, I recommend that you change Agencies for the rebooking. The FCC is in your name, not the Agency’s, so if you want to change you can. I certainly would ! You should have gotten an email from Royal with the certificate names, amounts, and numbers from the cancelled booking. That’s all you need to get started on the rebooking. If you didn’t get that information, call Royal and request it. Just leave the bad Agency in the dust.

  25. Ask 10 people on this message board and 11 will give you the name of their MEI agent (Kathy here), there is a reason we all cherish their service, quick responses to simple email inquires is one of many. I'm not sure how FCC work with agents, whether they have control or you, however if there was a cruise / room that I wanted, I wouldn't wait for a FCC, I'd put down the cash and apply the FCC after. Not sure which agent(s) you're talking about on YouTube but Danny from Harr Travel does some awesome walk-through's / tours of ships, rooms, CocoCay, etc... However, I'm sticking with my MEI agent.

  26. Hey I feel for you, we have had 5 cruises cancelled since April and two more For this year are not looking good at this time, however, my TA, Michelle at MEI has been right on it every time. Realizing the burden all this has put on all TA’s I’ve been amazed that she always replies to my requests within a couple of hours or less. She is amazing and I highly recommend her if you want quick, accurate and up to date information. Although this situation is hard on everyone it’s sure nice to have someone like her in your corner.

@twangster How do you take such fantastic photos. You must be a professional. I would have to agree that Quantum class has the best solarium. I have been on a cruise when the outdoor temperature was too cold to enjoy a cruise. No worries in the Quantum class solarium.

  34. Independence of the Seas. It is available for a couple of times in October when the weather is still good and then a couple of times in Jan/Feb on other ships when the weather is less good. I really like the itinerary, if it was offered more often i would have moved to next year instead of sliding back to Octboer.

  35. I fixed my OP on page 83, I just booked with my FCC May 29, 2021 Symphony of the Seas out of Miami. If 2021 is a go by Thanksgiving 2021 I would have sailed all of the BIG GIRLS! So cool. 3 cancelled in 2020 3 booked in 2021 fingers crossed.

  36. The only constants in this thing is that with every person, there is a differing opinion with everyone else. With every trusted (I don't trust any of them) news source saying one thing, there is another saying something different. The government is more interested in covering it's back side while it tries look like it's acting in the public interest. With every person who wants a vaccine, there is another who doesn't. To me, it boils down to "authorities" who keep changing the story trying to micromanage the outcome instead of letting the miracle of human biology take care of the issue. Living a healthy lifestyle is excoriated amidst a preference for pharmaceuticals and fast food. So, to me, again, it comes to this...if there is someone who takes assurance in the vaccine they have taken, why would they be worried about someone who hasn't? From the beginning, I have been more worried about the response than the virus itself. I recall the scare videos from China late last Fall, and images of people in Wuhan who were yelling from their locked down apartments that it was all fake (at least that was what was translated in the videos I saw), and the images of people in hazmat suits fogging the streets with some virus killing fog. So, my conclusion mirrors what Keanu Reeves said about the movie, The Matrix. He said it was a documentary.

  39. Well I will say it again, any good news on this front I will take at this point. There are some interesting treatments and vaccine possibilities on the horizon.

Indeed. There is speculation that Pullmantur will relaunch in the future after working through bankruptcy. If so Lady G may be her flagship due in no small part to the scrubbers required in many areas.

One of the unique things about Lady G vs, say, Rhapsody or Vision, is that she does have those scrubbers installed in the exhaust.... that could be the one thing that saves her from the scrapyard

  42. I was booked on Lauderdale-CocoCay-Sea Day-Labadee-Seaday-Lauderdale .... for Sept 14th ? Figured that itinerary has to be one of the most likely to sail with no true "outside" influences .... reluctantly rebooking it for end of October ... no longer feeling optimistic but at this point its just bouncing forward my weekend getaway money from March ... to May ... to Sept ... to Oct ...

  44. Its not set in stone that it will only be 50% effective. Right now I have 0% effective vaccine so 50% is still better. I think in the end it will be higher than 50%.

  45. At this point I would feel safer leaving from Port Liberty than Fla. Fla cases going way up, NY/NJ steady now, don´t know for how long though. All is complete supposition now, all you can do is sit back and wait to see what unfolds. I am sure as soon as RCCL has figured out what the window for sailing is they WILL let us all know. I think they are doing the best they can under the circumstances. We all want to get back to sailing asap, I am sure they feel the same.

  46. I also highly recommend Oasis with kids. The pool deck hands down better for kids, Laser tag, Ice skating, Ice skating show, The new Aqua 80's aqua theater show is amazing and kids will it. its the best Aqua Theater show in the fleet. All the different quick service food options so much better than Brilliance.. To me there is no question if you have kids Oasis or Quantum class is the way to go..
