  1. Ummm? NO!! That looks like one of those recipes from a vintage cookbook from the 50's or 60's. Like bananas wrapped in ham and baked with a hollandaise sauce. Don't laugh. I actually saw that in one! Or the tuna gelatin molds!

    Does Size Matter

When the area gets the “all clear” these ports will be tripping over one another to get the revenue that an Oasis class ship brings.

    Oasis Sailing 3/8/2020

It's pretty hard for them to actually link it to the ship itself. The passenger very well could have gotten it traveling home or doing any activities once they got home. I was on Symphony of the Seas March 7-14th and we just got an email yesterday informing us a passenger has tested positive as well. I'm not worried about it as we are almost at the 14 day mark anyway of being away from the passenger. But just like you I appreciate Royal doing their due diligence and letting the passengers know.

  11. Day 7 – Last Sea Day A very sad day….last sea day. This is the day where we had to start packing and enjoy every last minute on the ship. We had great weather the entire cruise so it was nice to still be able to sit out on our balcony. Since we didn’t get much wind back there, sitting in the sun was very nice. We only had plans to do the back stage tour and bridge tour. I had already done the back stage tour so I only opted to do the bridge tour. Yen met us in the afternoon with one other Star Class group to do the bridge tour. When we got to the bridge, there was a bar set up for us with soda and champagne….talk about feeling like royalty! It was very interesting to hear how they dock, how the ship sails itself and the tutorial on the radar. The bridge definitely has an amazing view. After the tour, we asked Yen to join us for dinner at Chops. She said she was unable to but would join us for dessert. Dinner was amazing and we enjoyed having one last opportunity to eat at Chops. Of course, all of our drinks were waiting for us. Yen joined us for dessert and surprised us with a birthday cake for some of us celebrating milestones this year and the restaurant sang us Happy Birthday. This is our group with Yen.

  12. Since @Matt loves his spaghetti Bolognese on the ships and the fleet is grounded, so to say, I thought I would throw out an alternative suggestion for him to try out at home.? All the ingredients you need is spaghetti, hotdogs and a sauce, with a little imagination like the pic..you too can be a stellar chef! Follow me for more recipes.

    Stay in place

In Denver they initially ruled liquor stores must close. Within minutes long lines formed and the city was inundated with complaints. Within hours they exempted liquor stores so they could stay open. No lottery sales at liquor stores here.

  14. Well as a Canadian I hope to be joined by many Americans (and other world travellers!) sailing from Vancouver on Serenade August 30!! Clearly both the US and Canada are going to need tourist dollars when this is over. The negative commenters are being impractical. We welcome you once the borders open!

My college is currently putting a move-out plan in place -- students' stuff is still in their dorms despite no students allowed on campus for 2 weeks now -- and the college will be refunding a pro-rated amount of room/board. Tuition, no...because we're all still doing distance learning, so our educations are continuing.

    Perfect Day At Labbdee?

We have been to Labadee twice and absolutely love it. Its one of our favorite stops. We are beach people. The water is warm and clear, its always easy to find a chair. The only upgrade I can think of is food.

  17. I thought the same for our Oasis May 10 cruise but we got cut. Yours being so late in May might go off without a hitch, my fingers are crossed for you. Also honestly I wish they would just do two days in Coco Cay and not go to Nassau. Save them money and its a better port.

  18. I also came to realization during the first round of cancellations that a good TA is so valuable! I had my back up cruise booked a few days before our actual sailing got cancelled. It makes it more bearable lol.

  19. I'm not counting on our Oasis (5/31) cruise to sail, but it may happen as long as the U.S. ports are open and they can resume cruising. For the Oasis itinerary (out of Cape Liberty), Royal would possibly have to replace only Nassau or make it a sea day (fine with us!). The other ports are Port Canaveral and Coco Cay. I'm assuming Coco Cay and Labadee are under Royal's control and discretion. Fingers crossed, but going to book something later just in case!

  20. While I knew this news was going to be inevitable, I was notified yesterday via email that on our cruise someone has tested positive for COVID 19. A chance of someone having it on a ship this size in my mind was a given! I truly appreciate RCCL giving us a heads up!

  22. Just FYI, a lot of credit card companies are deferring interest and monthly payments (as well late payments and fees). I encourage you to call your company and ask for any available assistance during this time. You may find that many of them are super lenient.

  23. Hope everyone is doing well and fully stocked on all things paper products and rice. I received this email this evening from R.C. Not worried at all since we are day 11 being back and thought it would be responsible to share. Not really worried since this is not a Princess cruise type of thing but was still a tad surprised but not really that surprised.

  24. I put a deposit down last weekend on a replacement cruise in anticipation of these new cancellations. Already transferred it to Sharla at MEI. I had a few questions regarding the 125% FCC and 125% OBC for cruise planner purchases and Sharla got back to me within an hour. Great service! Have been very happy with MEI and Sharla.

    Stay in place

I could be wrong, but I feel that the state of Illinois keeping liquor stores open has something to do with the amount of lottery tickets purchased at liquor stores. Just saying. We need to shelter in place, but not if it effects lottery sales.

  32. For balcony cabins on Oasis class I believe 14 is the best because of the overhang that offers nice shade.

  33. Deck 11 is where I've been both times and love it. Close enough to walk up a few decks to the pools, windjammer, and activities on the top decks as well as just a few flights down to central park and the promenade. The perfect middle ground for some exercise but also quiet with no activities really on the deck

  34. The only problem I had with the rooms behind the restaurants on 8 is that the one on the forward “hump” was a long walk to the aft elevators. Other than that, I also loved these rooms.

  35. Definitely go for Matt’s videos to learn about programs, tricks and tips. As Matt doesn’t do a lot of rooms videos, if you’re looking for room types I like the Harr Travel videos as they aren’t done with a fisheye lens which drives me crazy in a cramped cabin.

  36. Matt is right about Next Cruise OBC following you to the future booking. Just did this yesterday with a cancelled Ovation sailing and transfer to new booking. Normally, you only get to transfer the Next Cruise benefit one time after purchase( I had already changed this one once) However this time, because RCI cancelled this cruise, I was able to make this change a second time. Thanks T/A, done in a few minutes.

  43. I was looking at that same Oasis sailing and ended up booking the group cruise. The thing that scared me off the Oasis sailing (especially given with how good the pricing was) was that the week of 11/14 is a Bliss adults swingers cruise. I’d be way too afraid of what might be on the mattress, I’d have to dress up like one of the Covid-19 drive up testing people.

This is precisely why this "healthy enough to cruise" process is a fool's errand. In my line of work (Safety Engineer), there is no such thing as a "safe" system. You can evaluate the system for risks, identify them, mediate them, redesign, evaluate, mediate and on and on but you never, ever, ever (if you want to keep your credentials) pronounce a system is safe. There's no such thing b/c no matter how automated it is, systems have to be operated and maintained by people....and people will make mistakes and use poor judgement. So most HCPs will never sign a document saying that it is safe for their patient to do ANYthing. If the cruise industry is trying to pare down its cruising population then this is a great way to do that. Even then they are going to find that even young people get sick or have accidents ! I really, really hate this kind of knee jerk reaction that implemented such a ridiculous policy that is destined for failure. This was a perfect example of overreaction in a crisis leading to very BAD policies. Well-intended though it may have been, it is utter nonsense.

  46. Didn't say she had to transfer....just to ask them to get her records ready to transfer.....since scheduling an in-person visit and getting the form signed would be significantly lower effort and even have a copay associated with it....there might be a sudden change of heart by the doctor and/or staff fronting.

  47. Do we even know if they'll require a letter once this all blows over? And yeah, physicians and clinics are REALLY busy right now, I don't know that transferring to another doctor is the solution. Many are canceling appointments and even surgeries for elective procedures, so providing a letter for something like this is going to fall off the "we can do this" list. It may seem cold, and her response may have seemed cold, but try to imagine what they are going through right now as well. Services are not what they were last week. Most police in our area are not responding on anything but high priority calls as they would last week. If you need anything else, it'll be a phone call. We're in uncharted territory here.

Wow, that's insulting (to you). The answer to your question is, no, the temperature is not enough. The reason RC is prohibiting people over 70 from cruising (temporarily) is because people in that age range are far more susceptible to coronavirus and it is far more deadly in that age range. Once the coronavirus threat lessens, I fully expect this rule to be rescinded.

  49. Ernestos Tortilla Factory (a restaurant just north of the cruise terminal) and it’s neighbor Gateway Car Rental both will rent you a Jeep for about $50 for the day. Probably manual transmissions only. Again, unfortunately renting a dune buggy is no where to be found.
