New to forum - HELLO!
mom2mybugs and 6 others reacted to MO & LO on the go! for a topic
Just wanted to say hello to everyone! We are new here....but not to cruising Royal. We have our 10th Royal cruise coming up in February '20 on a 9 night to the ABC islands. We are Diamond C&A members! We hope to be able to help others out from our experiences and get help from others from theirs! We love talking cruising since it's the best type of vacation there is!!! We have taken videos and photos of lots of our adventures while cruising and will try to share those as appropriate. Again hello and hope to get to know some fellow Royal travelers! Royal is the BEST! ?7 points -

I for one have stopped trying to promote the cruise industry and agree wholeheartedly with everything they said. The last thing I need is more people to book cruises (driving up the cost for me). It's terrible out there folks. The sea was 90' yesterday (away from the Promenade deck). I hear that 99% of all cruise ships got stranded (away from a boring existence) yesterday. Everyone on board is sick (of being on land). I went missing (and none of my clients know I'm on a ship). There were 75 mph winds (for anyone driving on the interstate with their hands out the window in Florida). Yep, it's not a life for the faint of heart. Avoid cruising (so I can book cheaper cruises). If they don't want to go, please don't try to correct them.5 points -

A last breakfast with the WJ opening right at 6am on the final morning. There is another forward section with additional food station that was closed on this morning. Upstairs where there is more seating, the Compass Deli and Sorrento's. Freestyle drink dispensers for those with a beverage package. For a small ship Majesty has a lot of big ship features.4 points

If they mention getting sick from the food... ask them where they last went out to eat at. (then look at them with a very judgmental look) If the mention getting stranded... tell them, you would much rather get stranded on a luxury cruise ship than stuck on the Tarmac of an airport. If they mention people missing... tell them happens everyday on the city streets. Rarely on cruises. If they mention crime and sickness... same as walking into a Walmart. Stuck in a storm.... Cruise ships will avoid storms... they have something called navigation. lol Finally... ask them how many cruises they have been on. Then stare at them in judgement again. :-)4 points

Our scheduled start of self-assist was posted to be 7:30am. I joined the line around 50 people back at 6:45am. It is routed into the MDR on deck 4 to keep it orderly. At 7:12am we started moving. Through the terminal to CBP where they were making queues for the normal post cruise CBP check. Some people were already doing the thing with an CBP officer. As I was getting closer they just opened the lane in the middle and told everyone to walk out. I guess because we cleared immigration in Key West they decided to go easy on us. Out to the waiting taxis where a lady following after me just threw her luggage into trunk of my cab without asking where I was going. Hmmm. So I confirmed she was heading to FLL airport. Why not split a cab? Dropped off curbside at airport terminal at 7:28am. I had a 4:45pm flight booked because it was the cheapest flight of the day when I booked it. Being A-List on Southwest I can standby for free so my strategy is to often book a later flight then take my chances at the airport. I lucked out, seats were available on the 8:45am direct flight. Through security and at the gate by 7:40am. Soon after boarding in my window seat I looked out and saw my bag going into the belly of plane. Twenty five minutes later my luck continued when the door of the plane closed with the only empty middle seat on the whole plane being right beside me. Phew.3 points

Lazy day in Key West. When at the NAS pier there is a shuttle used to get "downtown". I stayed on the ship like a few others did today. It's my 3rd visit in a month so I decided to skip it this time. Soon enough it was the Diamond event. Service has been great, long before my drink is empty another one magically appears. Sunset from the aft section of the VCL. Maybe I've been at sea too long, I'm seeing faces in the sunsets now. Or a Jack o' Lantern... In Boleros there was live music.3 points

Viking Crown Lounge when it's not hosting the nightly Diamond event. There is a bar but I've never seen it used. When waiters are present they use the area behind this as a service bar for serving drinks during the Diamond event but also I saw them serving non-Diamonds in the aft section of the VCL (paid using a SeaPass card).3 points

Ships are dangerous......so are airplanes, trains, automobiles, movie theaters, malls, Walmart, schools, concerts, night clubs, riding a bike, riding a motorcycle, scuba diving, foul balls at baseball games, swimming, hurricanes, tornadoes, mud slides, forest fires, ice storms, earthquakes, getting too close to wildlife, boating, guns, poor diets, obesity, smoking, alcohol, second hand smoke, vaping ...... I guess I'll just assume a fetal position in my basement and hope for the best.3 points -

The pre-dawn arrival into Port Everglades isn't nearly as interesting as arriving into the Port of Miami. I thought I spotted another ship in the distance. It was the Celebrity Equinox arriving just before us. A final sunrise was in the making as I headed down to gather my stuff, vacate my cabin and prepare to join the self-assist line.2 points

Momof4crazytocruise and one other reacted to melmar02 for a topic
It's official this morning, we just added Thursday night to our pre-cruise hotel. We're just going to drive all the way to Clear Lake instead of stopping north of Houston for the night. The plan is to spend Friday at the Children's Museum and Saturday will be at Space Center Houston (as originally planned). Because we have a membership at the Perot Science Museum here in Dallas, we get free admission to both those museums too. We've doubled up on home school lessons the last couple weeks to be able to take Thursday and Friday off from school. I'm pretty sure I will want Wednesday off now too, so I'll just double up the week we come back to make up for that day. We haven't told the kids they're getting an extra day of vacation yet! Today's agenda includes picking up the clothes from the cleaners, laundry, and picking up (more) sunscreen.2 points -

Concierge for suite guests
Lovetocruise2002 and one other reacted to WAAAYTOOO for a topic
No, the Concierge is normally not on duty during embarkation. He/she should begin working around 4:00-4:30. My recommendation is to ask for whatever reservations you want when the Concierge reaches out to you prior to the cruise - usually 5 days prior to cruise day. That is really your best opportunity to coordinate with the Concierge prior to boarding.2 points -

FAKE NEWS I MEAN FALSE COMMENTS. None of those facts are even close to the truth. Those comments are such a joke. Almost as bad as the people who write bad reviews on various sites. Those come from very unhappy people and will do anything or say or write anything just to see their name in print. We totally dismiss those types of reviews all the time. Cruising is the only way to go.2 points -
As usual , cruise early morning and I woke up up much too early. So here some more pictures from yesterday : Now, I am sure such a child labor would not be approved today ? Inside the cathedral: It's hard to understand the size from the picture but it is a huge church , 40000 people can be inside and to think they started to build it 700 years ago (and complete it 60 years ago , talking about delays , almost like RCL IT upgrade projects). Here are the remains of the old church under the cathedral And I can't visit Italy without drinking espresso or two2 points

Pulled out some of our luggage since we bought a new big piece today. I'm trying to decide if my daughter can squeeze all her stuff in her carry on size or if I need to let her borrow my old, big hard side. I just realized we have no medium sized bags. ? For 11 days now, I'm pretty sure my son will have to use a normal carry on size instead of his little Star Wars bag.2 points -

Everyone has their own style of vacation that they enjoy and that's usually where I steer the conversation. An analogy, I love attending NFL games, full day, tailgating, etc. I had a friend who loved concerts, Grateful Dead style. I would take him to a game and he would take me to a concert. We were both respectively bored. We finally agreed to do our own thing, remained great friends.2 points -

In my old age I have learned a few things. One of them is that there are always going to be negative people who don't have a good / nice thing to say about anything or anyone. They always complain, always find something "wrong" with stuff, and are the first to focus on the negative. They don't bog me down because I ignore them. I don't need that kind of negativity in my life.2 points -

Good news if you have been dreaming of west coast cruises
cruisestuff and one other reacted to Matt for a topic
Great point. "Royal Caribbean" could reference the parent company (RCCL) and not necessarily be indicative of Royal Caribbean International resuming west coast cruises.2 points -
When we cruise out of Port Canaveral and arrive a day ahead we do the following: 1. Rental a car at the airport from Hertz for a one-way rental to be turned in at Cape Canaveral. There is no one-way surcharge for a one-way car rental. 2. Stay at the Residence Inn 8959 Astronaut Blvd, CC 321-323-1100. The cost was $195 plus tax The reason to rent with Hertz is b/c the Hertz car rental office shares a parking lot with the Residence Inn. You are able to use your rental car all day to do whatever you want to do - go sight seeing - visit Kennedy Space Center - eat lunch, dinner whatever you want. Then you can return the car after hours, leave the keys in their late night drop box and walk a few steps over to the Residence Inn for the night. The Residence Inn has a shuttle to the port the next day.2 points

Royal Caribbean Beach Towel from Cruise Planner
Baked Alaska and one other reacted to tiny260 for a topic
To me the towel policy is no big thing, you go get a towel, you take a towel back. But I'm also not a chair hog, if we are going to go get something to eat, I turn my towels in, go get lunch, comeback and get a new towel. I definitely won't stress about it.2 points -
Cruise Summary My biggest complaint is the 5 night duration. Even though I came off another ship before hand it's a lot of unpacking and you just get into cruise mode when it's over. I feel like I didn't have enough time to really experience the ship properly. I have a B2B booked in the fall so hopefully that will solve this problem. Majesty definitely feels like a bigger ship than Empress (the ship I was on before this) but it is a bigger ship so it had better feel bigger. Majesty is dated in places such as decor and the outdoor carpets on the upper decks. You can tell some new carpeting has been installed in places but in certain areas or staircases the carpet is older. Crew was fantastic and I only experienced great service. It was great to visit CocoCay again and I look forward to my next cruise when I have the water park and zipline booked. O3b Voom was great and I really wish Royal would upgrade more ships to O3b. This was a relatively inexpensive cruise and there is great value at the price point I paid. Majesty has a lot to offer and I'm looking forward to going back to spend more time on her.1 point

Grand Suite Amenities - Enchantment of the Sea
mom2mybugs reacted to betatke1480 for a topic
We stayed in a Grand Suite on Enchantment last Thanksgiving. The concierge will help you with any issues instead of Guest Services. You'll also get water and fruit delivered to your room. You get to order free room service, and you can order room service from the MDR during dining hours. We did not use the concierge lounge at all on our 4 nighter. You also can dine at Chops for breakfast, which is nice. On debarkation, you can dine in Chops for breakfast, and then the concierge will walk you off the ship, somewhat expedited. You can also get priority lines for getting off the ship in ports, although it was never really an issue on Enchantment for us. One word of warning, we had a fair amount of noise in our GS from the pool deck above. You can follow the link in my signature for our live blog from the Oasis/Enchantment S2S we did last year.1 point -

Really? You can get sick anywhere. And motion? Ask them if they know how big some of these ships are nowadays. But of course they don't because they won't give it a try. Lots of car, trains, plane etc. accidents recently too. Often that is due to judgement, the ship/Royal does not "make them" go missing. Yup. Every time you step out of your house. Tell them Royal has a full time meteorologist who is really good at his job. That's what I would say. ? Some people love being negative. Don't worry about them. You have chosen a fantastic ship to start cruising on. Go and enjoy it to the fullest!1 point -
