  4. For the Night 1 CK dinner menu see my last live blog from Anthem. Link in signature below or on page one of this blog. As for dinner pics, only one matters: So disappointed to see @Matt dining in the WJ ?. @CGTLH had a better excuse. We both ate at CK but I am so full I can barely move, so he kindly took care of it. Also met @tiny260 and his DW today. I love these two! Fantastic people! For the rest of the evening, D12 has gone up to the Teen Meet & Greet. The rest of us are planning to watch the Welcome aboard show. Not sure what will happen after this.

Sorry this is not a "Spending Control" tip. Still, it is a great Navigator of the Seas tip: The Deck 11 Aft Men's Washroom is the best public washroom on any Royal Caribbean Ship. It has a fantastic view, when you are doing what you do. Tell your male friends, tell people you meet on the ship, tell random people on the way to and from the ship. You will become instantly popular. There are lots of pictures on the Internet, but there still is nothing like being there. ?

  10. I'm hoping to help Royal reach the conclusion that this should be an annual event. Flash sale events should become a new norm.

  11. I think the actual loss isn't that substantial. Consider that on most cruises around half or more are first timers. Based on C&A numbers I've always captured at top tier events the ship is rarely full of return of guests or even 1/2 full of return guests. Time and again, most of the newbies don't find sites like this or other social media cruising sites until after they got the cruising bug. Most guests didn't know about this event. DX sales have been estimated to be less that 15-20% of guests on average. The truth is most people don't buy a package. Many people don't know about cruise planner sales or know to check for price drops. For every DX sale, many people never think to come back and check for price drops so many pay a higher rate to begin with. For me it only glitched for half of my 2020 cruises. Not all 2020 DX packages were subject to the glitch. It was a relatively short window of opportunity. Many people missed it. There is also the potential for positive side effects. Once a guest experiences the DX, many will be more inclined to bite the bullet next time. I know I enjoy it more when I cruise with the DX. There may be some positive future revenue from this. Alcohol sales are high margin. It's a huge profit center. There may be lost potential revenue but not an operational loss that appears as a red line item on a balance sheet. Some people had no intention of buying the DX in 2020. I didn't since I use Diamond happy hour drinks. Now I've bought it 4 times. Many people like me who had no intention of buying the DX did buy it because of the glitch. Sure we bought it cheap, but that is revenue that Royal never would have captured otherwise. That's a positive. Royal gets to keep and use this money for the next 8 to 16 months until guests sail. That's some money in the coffers that otherwise would not have been there. That will help make the next installment payment on the Odyssey build. Traditional DX promos have been used to stimulate sales and maximize potential revenue. Stopping those could negatively impact potential revenue long term. If people would eventually cave and buy DX at higher prices Royal would never offer DX promos. Why would they? Combine all the factors and it's a drop in the bucket. It's not going to impact stock prices or financial results.

  12. It should just say “you’ve known for months the higher suites are sold out, so what did you think was going to happen”

  13. Travel agents get the same prices as you will find going through Royal directly and you get all the same perks as booking directly. However, a travel agent can also provide their own perks in addition, so it can be an better deal than booking direct. Usually it will be some onboard credit or a free specialty meal, but sometimes the travel agency will throw in prepaid gratuities which is a good savings right there. If your current booking is for more than 90 days out you can transfer the booking to a travel agent now and possibly still get some extra travel agent perks.

  18. The latest RCI for the Pacific region has started today and has some good deals on at the moment The price of the cruise we were looking at for 2021 on Serenade came down $1000 from yesterday so we have booked. I am not sure if U.S citizens can book through the Australian website but the pricing is far cheaper than the U.S website for the same sailing, especially when you consider Australia/NZ cruises include gratuities in the cruise fare. Example for our cruise: US website price for Junior Suite: $4605USD + $232USD gratuities Price for the same cabin on the Australian/NZ website: $5304NZD converted to USD = $3557. Deposits are lower as well. The only gotcha is you lose your deposit on a NRDB as FCC is not offered on suite bookings (unless you book in NZD but that is a whole other story)

Take a good stock of medicine and a basic first aid kit for things like plasters should you need them. You can buy over the counter medicine in the shop on the ship however it is really expensive and you don't want to have to go to the ship doctor to patch up a small scrape should you have one as that can get really expensive. Mush better to take a small stock of things and sort it out yourself if possible.

  23. Keep us informed. I can't possibly cruise with people who don't do tequila shots.

  24. Keep checking for Northstar and iFly and the shows (The Gift, Spectre's Cabaret, and We Will Rock You) it is hit or miss when those appear. Flowrider is not bookable ahead of time unless you want to pay for an exclusive section. If you can't get reservations before you sail then make that be the first thing you take care of when you get onboard. Shouldn't be a problem to get into everything you want at least once.

  25. So, we slept wonderfully last night and did not wake up until about 10:15am. Hubby and D12 are still in bed. D10 and I wandered into the WJ as everything else was already done for breakfast. Awful place! We walked in and walked right back out. Told D10 that I could not do it. Pure madness in there! We wandered down to the Esplanade to grab some milk and pound cake. That was breakfast. Currently wandered into a napkin folding class while we wait for 270 to open for lunch. Still no sign of Hubby and D12. ? This afternoon we have a meet up at 1pm and the bar crawl at 2:30pm. I am sure some scopes will follow...

  26. Never underestimate the morning WJ chaos. This was taken just after 10:00am (-3 GMT, set clocks ahead last night). Line on the otherside was much longer. My suggestion, Solarium Bistro. Was fairly empty and had most of the core breakfast items.

  29. 90's night was fun. Some great songs. I prefer the 80's night as a production but this still worked. Love and Marriage was hilarious! Marc's hosting blows BB thoroughly out of the water and even beats Abe Hughes. What happens at L&M stays at L&M, but as expected, the old couple won.

  30. In the end of the day they had to balance financial issues with Public Relations issues. Public Relations usually wins out, I'm one who got he drink package at the $18 price -- I'll be a very loyal Royal Caribbean cruiser in the future and will only book RC going forward. Furthermore, look who wrote the email, it came from the Guest Services Director, AKA Public Relations. They probably agonized over that email and decided to make it very cute and tongue-in-cheek. They played it very well in the end - kudos to the RCI team

  31. I do basically the same thing. If i was doing a port heavy itinerary, then I would take my "big" camera. If i am doing a smaller/sea day heavy itinerary, then i take the phone. On a recent trip to Europe (not a cruise holiday), i took photos over 3 devices - DSLR, snapshot camera & phone. Each has their particular use cases.

Prepay gratuities and cruise planner items (speciality dining, internet, drink packages, and excursions) prior to your cruise. It will allow you to budget for the most common additional expenses.

  37. Fingers-crossed! I would be very surprised if they do not match the scope of the Oasis upgrades. Slides should be a given now otherwise it will be the odd duck in the class! Even the older ships are getting water slides as they are Amped. I remember before the official announcement of the Oasis upgrades came out, people were not sure if it would create an engineering/structural challenge to add the wet and dry slides, but thankfully they worked it out! Have a great time, I'm sure you will! We are just about ready to call and make the swap... definitely the same itinerary, but still coordinating with our travel friends in FLA!

  42. Backtracking a bit a today was a busy day! I need a cruise from all this land vacation nonsense! ? I think I left off this morning with the Naked Cowboy. He was the first thing we saw after the tour started. But just in case you missed the earlier post, here are some that D12 caught on her camera ? The Viator tour was hectic but very comprehensive. Money well spent as we saw tons of sights. However, if you ever plan to do this tour, be ready to move and walk. Here are pics from around the city. ?: Mostly all Hubby and one D10. Times Square (last night) The Lulubot always can find a home base. Hornblower Cruises Junior Photographer in training: Her work. ?: D10 9/11 Memorial Rushing to get back for the pizza meet up:

  44. Was on the Grandeur of the Seas from June 13 to June 22. I specifically asked our waiter in the MDR if there was a special menu for vegetarians/vegans ( I had heard there was) and he did confirm it. Remember, you have to ask for this menu specifically. He, being very helpful, offered me a copy but did say they do change from time to time. I would think this is company wide so enjoy. This is the Dinner Menu.
