Prices - GTY vs Choose your own
AshleyDillo replied to Someone_else's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
It's just a quirk their dynmaic pricing algorithm has sometimes. They may have sold a big percentage of the allocated GTY for that sailing so it indicates more demand thus pushing the price higher. -
Glad you were able to save some money. One thing I learned too is to ask if they have GTY incentives when you call in. Last trip on Symphony, they gave me about $300 for doing a GTY ocean balcony instead of picking my own. GTY's are not too bad in my opinion for the higher category rooms.

I think it’s a fig jam. It’s really good. I order one before my meal and another for desert.

Just found out the group leader received $100 OBC this will be in addition to what she will receive once on board for booking all the cabins.
-
We have 3 different room types. Balcony, interior and interior plus. We all booked through a group cruise rate given to us by Royal. We started out with $50 OBC but then we received the Extra $50 which was added a couple days ago. It now shows $100 for everyone except myself and the 3 people in the interior plus cabin. We are all part of the same group called “Family of Love”. I was going to wait until boarding day to speak with guest services to see if they can add the extra OBC if it doesn’t disappear before boarding day.
-
In your own opinion (and/or experience), why would a 'Choose your own cabin' be CHEAPER than a GTY? It's an interior cabin if it matters... Thanks!

Explorer of the Seas has no bookings listed from the end of its last European cruise on Sept. 21st, 2025 until Nov. 1st 2025 when it sails from Port Canaveral. What will happen during that time? Will Explorer have a major refurbishment?. And then will it go on a western transatlantic cruise (Europe to USA? What do you think?

Great advice. I didn't think to specify just a gty this morning and the upgrade prices to a balcony were outrageous for the 3 we were targeting. Normally we're fine with just an interior but I made the mistake of saying we would get a balcony for the prime cruise a few months ago when I was wanting to win a different cabin argument (oops...). I just got off the phone after calling again and the gty upgrade was almost $1000 cheaper as well. I didn't get it free like you did but one of our sailings was less than $400 total for 2 so that made the pill a little easier to swallow at least.

Your cruise documents may not be ready. In my experience, there can be a couple of weeks delay after check in. Monday is a month out. I'd call Royal then if you can't get into app successfully. If you are eager, call Royal now. PS. See thread on luggage tags.

I checked and the B2B I wanted was not on the list and I was excited. No eligible when I tried on RC. I'll try turning it off and back on and see if that fixes it

Royal Up | Star Class | Drink Package
AshleyDillo replied to snowjunkie33's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Yes, you could either go on the Cruise Planner and cancel yourself if the upgrade happened before the Cruise Planner cutoff. Otherwise the Genie will get you refunded onboard. -
Does anyone know what would happen if you placed a bid on a Star Class cabin; won the bid, but also already prepaid for a drink package and some specialty restaurants. Would you get those dollars back since the costs would not be extra as a result of being in a star class cabin?

Yes, I believe it is a fig chutney. I never thought of emailing RC dining directly about it!
-
Crossing my fingers for you, too. I didn't bother bidding to get out of my interior

UDP does not cover Chops breakfast or any breakfast other than Mason Jar brunch.
-
Typically breakfast in Chops is reserved for suite guests and I assume pinnacles. I have never seen it open to the general public.
-
Wow! A response! And to know now, your suggestion has ended up with all the other suggestions.

I'm on Freedom the week before and Giovanni's kitchen and wine bar is also on Freedom. As mentioned above no veal or filet for the entree just about every thing else is the same.

Surprise Response from Cruise Survey

"Collection" = "Circular file" -
I wouldn't think linking has anything to do with the amount of OBC. What would matter is when the various reservations were made (in other words, what promos were in effect at that time). If you all booked at the same time and in the same category of stateroom, then I would think the difference is strange. But if everyone did their own reservations and you linked them up later to dine together, then I would assume they booked a different deal than you did. Kind of like how the person next to you on an airplane could have paid a wildly different price.
