Debbie Keltz-Wolk's Trip Report

10Feb2012
Ship:
Navigator of the Seas
Duration:
6
Cabin:
9636

My husband and I had a great time on our latest cruise.  The staff were so nice and willing to be of assistance where needed.  Our room stewart, Clinton was great.  When my husband fell on the ice rink Clinton brought us ice and a bag to put it in.  We also thought that Captain Tommy was great too.  The cruise director Dan Whitney was a lot of fun as well.

What was your motivation to take a cruise?:
My husband works shift work so this was the first time in months that him and I were in the same place at the same time. We needed to re-connect.
What was a highlight of your cruise?:
My husband LOVED kayaking and I LOVED the stand up paddle board in Labadee, Haiti. Um one thing though, it's not exactly safe to have the kayaks going through the swimming area. We found that the swimmers didn't exactly move even thought they saw a kayak headed straight for them. Someone is going to get hurt and this needs to be fixed.
What did you dislike about your cruise?:
In Labadee we HATED the marketplace. The locals were catcalling the tourists as we walked by. When we didn't go to their shops they were calling us names and this was not exactly my idea of a relaxing time. Also it was extremely crowded because there were two large ships docked at the island at the same time. We waited in line for almost an hour for lunch. I got to the front of the line only to find out that the only vegetarian options for me were salad, baked potato or fruit. We finally had had enough and went back to the ship to eat at the buffet.
Did you do any excursions?:
We were signed up for the pirate ship in Falmouth, Jamaica but it got cancelled due to high winds. It would have been fun though.
How was your cabin?:
We had cabin 9636. It was ok. There was enough closet space for us to fully unpack and still have lots of space left over. Our safe broke and someone had to come up and fix it. We loved just sitting out on our balcony but we hated the people smoking nextdoor. Could you please make the entire ship non-smoking.
How was the food on the ship?:
The food on the ship was just ok. I'm vegetarian and it would have been helpful to have some more options. My husband who eats anything thought that the food was great but he would have liked a deli. We loved the bakery on deck 5. That was a great place for an afternoon snack. The coffee was excellent and so was the hot chocolate and diabetic cookies. The Jade could have more vegetarian options and more signage so that we knew what was in the food we were eating.
Would you cruise again on this ship?:
Yes
