Carol and family Trip Report

27Dec2010
Ship:
Serenade of the Seas
Duration:
6 nights
Cabin:
8522, 8524, 8526 - deluxe ocean balcony

The dining room staff and great food.  The overall cleanliness of the ship.

What was your motivation to take a cruise?:
Family Christmas/Vacation trip
What was a highlight of your cruise?:
A great evening at the Vortex night club and the eco-nature tour on St. Lucia.
What did you dislike about your cruise?:
What seemed like an extraordinary amount of time (45minutes) to assemble for the mandatory safety demonstration which only took 5 minutes. More emphasis needs to be placed on getting to your station quickly. After all, if this was a real emergency, you'd probably be treading water in that 45 minute time span.
Did you do any excursions?:
Yes. The eco-nature tour to the Pitons via a scenic coastal boat ride and hike up into the Pitons was great. We also snorkeled on the way back to the ship. This was not a tour offered by RC but one booked right off the dock that morning. Also took the $16 shuttle over to St. Christianstad on St. Croix........really was not worth it.......Frederickstad and Christianstad seemed to have more closed shops than open. Perhaps an excursion to one of the beaches might have been more worthwhile. Took the kayaking/snorkeling excursion offered by RC at St. Kitts.....kayaking was good but time devoted to snorkeling could have been longer.
How was your cabin?:
Roomy enough for two people. Clean. Enough cubbies to unpack all our things comfortably and the balcony always made the room feel spacious. Would never book any other kind of room going forward.
How was the food on the ship?:
Great!!!!!!! We had my time dining and our table was always ready and waiting for us. The duck, prime rib, lobster were excellently prepared. Some of the appetizers were out of this world......cheers to the onion tart. If you are into wine w/dinner do consider the RC wine packages.....good selection and impeccable service.
Would you cruise again on this ship?:
Yes
