  • Jamie’s Italian, featuring rustic Italian favorites, handmade - using seasonal ingredients and Jamie’s tried-and-tested crowd pleasers

  • Devinly Decadence at Solarium Bistro, Royal Caribbean’s fittest dining destination, serving the foods you love all under five-hundred calories, designed by Devin Alexander, media personality, New York Times bestselling author and chef of highly-rated television show, “The Biggest Loser”

Royal Caribbean will also offer well known specialty restaurants on the Quantum-class of ships, such as Chops Grille, Izumi, Johnny Rockets and Chef's Table.

There will also be more complimentary restaurants that Royal Caribbean fans will recognize in the Windjammer Marketplace, The Cafe @ Two70 and SeaPlex Dog House.

To make the dining experience easier and simpler, Royal Caribbean is offering dining reservations well in advance with lots of options to book. Using a special new online booking tool, guests can make reservations starting May 15, 2014 and compare restaurants and book reservations.  Guests will still have the option of booking restaurants onboard the ship or opting for a walk-up table.

Royal Caribbean skips option to build fourth Quantum class cruise ship

In:
27 Jan 2014

During Royal Caribbean's fourth quarter financial results conference call, Royal Caribbean Chairman Richard Fain announced the company would not invest in the option to build a fourth Quantum class cruise ship in 2017.

"We remain committed to improving our shareholder returns, returning to an investment grade credit and maintaining moderate growth," said Fain.  "We think that the ships we have on order for our wholly-owned brands will serve us well and we do not anticipate an additional newbuild for delivery in 2017."

The option Royal Caribbean had in 2017 was for either a fourth Quantum class cruise ship or a Celebrity Reflection cruise ship.

Currently, Royal Caribbean has plans for its first Quantum class ship, Quantum of the Seas, to debut this fall with sister ship Anthem of the Seas following in spring 2015 and a third unnamed Quantum class ship in 2016.

Royal Caribbean preparing its cruise ships for new air pollution laws

In:
22 Jul 2013

Royal Caribbean has been working hard, along with the rest of the cruise industry, to prepare its cruise ships for new air pollution rules set to go into effect in 2015.  The fear is these new laws will make North American cruises more expensive and so Royal Caribbean has been slowly rolling out a solution to its cruise ships that will aim to be compliant without being too expensive.

The new rules are part of the North American Emissions Control Area (ECA), which surrounds the United States and Canada and extends up to 200 miles offshore.

Royal Caribbean's plan is to add "scrubbers" to their ships.  Scrubbers remove pollutants from engine exhaust as a kind of filter.  The downside to scrubbers is the technology is still a work in progress and requires a variance permit from the Environmental Protection Agency.

Royal Caribbean is planning on installing scrubbers on Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas when they are built.  They've already been testing scrubbers on Liberty of the Seas and Independence of the Seas and the EPA has granted trial exemptions for six Royal Caribbean ships.   In addition, it has authorized an “emissions averaging” solution in certain subregions of the ECA in which Royal can use fuels with differing sulfur levels, as long as the average equivalent sulfur emissions meet the ECA limits.
